During the Shakedown Cruise one of the Mount's owners gave me this piece of the old engines in appreciation for all the support this site gives to the Mount. It is a little piece of history.

Thanks for posting the video from the cruise. It was an historic Shakedown with the new engines. I just loved having the Doris E and Sophie C as our escorts. We have a lot to be proud of with such a fleet on our great lake.

There appears to be bolts that are not fully tightened on the motor mounts. Did they not line-up or are they some kind of leveling bolts?

Question - what are all the canisters hanging off the sides of the engines for?

There appears to be bolts that are not fully tightened on the motor mounts. Did they not line-up or are they some kind of leveling bolts?I think the silver bolts are levelers. The dark bolt in the middle of the mount appears to be the main bolt.

Question - what are all the canisters hanging off the sides of the engines for? The CAT 1R-0755 is a fuel filter. CAT fuel injectors are 1/20th the diameter of a human hair and run at up to 30,000 psi so fuel contamination is a big concern. (I read about it here (http://www.cat.com/cda/files/1386246/7/PEHJ7046-03.pdf))

IIRC along with the repower the Mount gained transmissions. I wonder how the crew are liking the fast changing btw forward, neutral and reverse ?

I saw those studs and thought the same thing as LP. I wonder if there's any isolation between the motor and the mounts. I would think that without rubber the ship would be a giant amplifier, especially if the motors were running at exactly the same speed.

By the way, the air filter looks like a giant K&N. Nice.

Wow. I am now wondering if part of the reason that the Webmaster started this site was for the photography and making a record of the happenings at the lake with the help of other photographers. I know I saw a post about the counting in the millions for photos and the emphasis on the information that should be given with each photo. Great idea to have a record of all of these happenings!! Thank you all very much.

I did not know that it was a public cruise and thought one had to have an invitation to take it. Was it open to the public or did everyone have to have an invitation and it was just being called a public cruise? The pictures are almost the same as being there though I took the Mount last year and it is really special. I guess the pictures were not really the same... but almost. They are great though!

I'm sure that sharing pictures of this great lake was one of the many reasons why Winnipesaukee.com was started.

Did you know that this year will be the 15th Anniversary of Winnipesaukee.com? Congratulation Don! The site sure has evolved nicely over the years.

The Shakedown Cruise is not open to the public. It is by invitation only.

I see on that page there is a dropdown to select Wheelchair yes/no. Does this mean that those that can't "walk the plank" can also enjoy the buffet and cruise? That would make it real special for mobility challenged family members. :)
