Resetting "New Posts" button

Today I had just entered the site and hit the "New Posts" button when a technical problem caused me to lose my browser session. So of course, the next time I entered the site there were no new posts since the system now thought I had seen them.

I'm sure there is an easy way to do this but I can't figure it out. How can I either reset the "New Posts" button to use a known time, or do a search of all forums "since time=XX:XX). I tried the advanced search but it doesn't seem to want to let me do one unless I have a specific string I am searching.

Before revisiting this site, you should have deleted your cookies. :look:

That would fool the site and the new post would appear. :D

Check before you delete your cookies. I think that would take you back to every, and I mean every, post would be new.
Hope Don has an idea as I have sometimes had to drop off and come back later and know that I missed some.

I thought of that and, as stated, if it worked it would reset you to the beginning.

I say "if it worked" because I believe your records are kept on the server side in your user data. This has to be the case because I visit this site from several different machines and they all know when I was last there. It's one of the features of this newer forum sw that I like.

This is my understanding of how the forum software works:

When you log in a cookie (a small file) is created on the computer you are using. The forum sees the cookie file and uses it to automatically log you on whenever you visit.

When you click "Log Out" your cookie is deleted and the forum treats you as a guest. It can't build a New Posts list because it doesn't know who you are until you log in again. Since the time of your last visit is stored on the server, not in the cookie, the New Posts list will always be accurate even if you are using different computers.

There is no need to manually clear your forum cookie. Just log out and it will be deleted.

The Advanced Search function is designed to search by Keyword or User. I agree that it would be nice to search on only date but that option does appear to exist in this version.
