The MOUNT just went by Black Cat Island at a very slow pace, flanked by the Doris E and the Sophie C. They are now at an apparent idle down by Steamboat Island. It took them approximately 10 minutes to go from Black Cat to their current position. They have been visible in the WeatherCam (http://www.blackcatnh.com) and its time lapse.

Ah the joys of testing a new power plant and working the kinks out. I was wondering when the shake down cruise was going to happen. No doubt with such a major system overhaul, there are many things to work out. Putting the engines in is only one part of the process. Getting all the system operational and functioning correctly and synchronized properly is another.

I was told last weekend that the Shakedown Cruise is May 3....
So, I wonder if this was just a practice run or if they moved it up?

I know that all the fountain equipment was de-winterized last week. So, it sounds like other than working out any possible bugs with the power change, that things are ready to go.

Cannot wait, the wife and kids have never been on the Mount and this is their year to enjoy that experience.

It seems we were posting the news (http://www.winnipesaukee.com/forums/showthread.php?p=125876#post125876)at about the same time!

The MOUNT is back at The Weirs, so I guess everything went well.. :) otherwise they would likely have gone back to Center Harbor. :look: NB

I do believe you are correct on that one. Although I remember reading on time that they are just as capable of repairing her at the Weirs as they are at Center Harbor. And at this point the types of things that would need to be done aren't of the major overhaul type. I would say that her health is by no means indicated by where she is berthed. The fact that she was going slow and being accompanied by the two smaller vessels I believe is an indication that they where testing things out, and will now do system diagnostic and make sure all is ok.......

The shakedown cruise always leaves from Center Harbor so I expect the Mount to return there before Monday.

This is to remind anyone planning on taking the Mother's Day cruise, the boardwalk construction is still going on. You should check to see how much parking there will be at the Weirs on Mother's Day.

Right now, there is no parking at all on the lake side from the ticket office all the way to the intersection of Rt 3 across from the water slide. It is all fenced in for the construction. The construction looks to be almost done, but I am not sure it will be all cleaned up by May 9th.

I am sure the folks that run the Mount will have a parking plan, but you might need a bit more time.

If this doesn't get you excited about the coming season nothing will. Thanks for posting. I'm curious as to how the new engines sound?

The Mount has a Slight Port List. Time to shift some newly added ballast around. YES. ...I took the wind into consideration. :) NB

I think last year the Mount did not come in to Meredith to pick up passengers, but this year it is going to do that again??
