I like the new street signs in Moultonborough, but the sign on my street is spelled wrong. I left a message with the road agent today. We will see if I get any response from my call.

Wonder how much all this cost us, oh.. wait, here it is (http://www.moultonboroughnh.gov/Pages/MoultonboroughNH_BOS/Town%20Warrants/2010%20Town%20Warrant.pdf)

Highway Dept. Street Sign Upgrade – Phase 2 $ 15,000

Wonder why this was necessary?

GBG, I am sure you will get a response from RA Kinmond. I see him working all over town with his team so he does not spend a lot of time in the office.

Wifi, the signs are part of the E911 system, which requires the name to reflect. I think there were Federal $ involved as well but hopefully someone that knows the whole deal can chime in.

I heard from Scott ( the road agent) today. He got back to me on a Saturday morning- quite impressive! He said that he knew about the mispelled road sign and that it will be replaced.

We went trough this a couple years back in Alton. They required us to also put our house numbers up on the house as well. It was for fire and emergency issues. Good idea in my opinion

No Federal money involved, just another unfunded federal mandate that every city and town in the country must comply with by 2013. The old standard was 6" sign blank and 4" letters. The new minimum standard is 9" sign blank with 6" letters and the letters have to be reflective.

With us Americans getting older, larger signs are sure to follow. To paraphrase Chief Brody "I think we're gonna need bigger signs".
