Geesh! I am not doing well with eating this week. I stopped at the VK on Saturday evening and they were already out of Prime rib....And now the Wineing Butcher? :(
I stopped in last night to get some tips and some Key West chicken....Nothing.
I mean nothing in the bins. They sold out everything except the firehouse turkey tips. Not even any steaks left. I was very disappointed, as I only go through Meridith once a week or so at best. I usually stock the freezer for a couple weeks at a time. They won't have anything until probably Wednesday as the marinade needs to work in.....
They had three chicken parms left though, so I did manage to get supper any ways.
I guess I will have to make it there on Thursdays before the crowds set in for the Summer.
Sounds like they are doing alright behind the gas station after all....:D

If I had to guess, I would bet that, especailly in the Meredith location, at this time of year, they plan on very little business for Monday thru Thursday, so probably know what inventory they need to carry them thru a weekend and then let it go down to zero. This way, they don't have to worry about waste. And then, come Thursday, refill everything. Jst a thought.
I know that, come summer time, whenever we go there, regardless of the day or time, the selections are endless.

Everyone has reduced their inventory and stocks. Its better to be sold out than to have it spoiled a couple of days later.
I noticed the car dealers, new and used have a lot less inventory. Even after many dealers have closed.
Meredith Center Store would be another good option for meats.

The Wine'ing Butcher did a radio promotion over the weekend with Eased Edges. The Hawk is giving away an Eased Edges Shed filled with mower, blower, weed whacker, grill - and Wine'ing Butcher meats to throw on the grill! They did sampling over the weekend, I saw the (mouthwatering!) photos on Facebook.
Sounds like that drove some traffic to the store!

Ahhhh....that might explain it. I have never seen the bins so empty.
Thanks.:D
Speaking of steaks, isn't it about time for Jojo's to open??

In the years past it has always been this weekend. I will be up on Friday afternoon and take a look.

Sorry Lakesrider ---- mighta been our fault !!
Unlike you, we only get up there off season at best once a Month ..... me thinks I coulda contributed to the "empty bins" problem.... cuz when we showed up Sunday (Merideth store) there was plenty enough for us to take home an freez ....... not sure we left much tho lmao

Broadhopper got it right......better to cut your inventory close to make sure things are fresh and you don't get stuck with a lot of waste.

Yea, and steak prices are up. Russia's getting ready to do a big protein buy, which drives our meat prices up. Last week my steak prices jumped by $1.00/lb in one week. I'm sure that hits a place like Wine'ing butcher pretty hard
