In Moultonborough anyone can launch a boat for free at Lee's Mills. I put my boat in there every spring and that's where I take it out in the fall.

I'm getting the impression that the north side of the lake offers more access than the south side.

Unfortunately coming up from Mass makes Moultonborough a long ride for a day trip with the kids.

That and I have dont almost all by boating (47 years) on the south side of the lake and am very comfortable with the waters I know.

The Ames farm issue really has me bummed out,,,

Does anyone know what the West Alton Marina access and parking is like?

I had used Fays once or twice and really did not like it. People were not friendly and almost seemed put off by day boaters and parking was not good and it was pretty run down and not a great place to have young kids who are itching to get out on the water,,,

The Alton ramp is a lousy option as there is no dock at the ramp and no parking. Again not a family friendly option.

Downing is ok during the week, but on the weekend is not a option unless you get up at 4:00 AM to beat the crowd.

Can people recommend other south lake options for day ramps that are family friendly and have parking???

You can easily see why Ames worked so well for people like me.

And they were always SUPER friendly!

Thanks

Wolfeboro has boat ramps at the town docks and at Libby Museum. Both are free.

I use the West Alton marina to launch my 33' Formula without a problem and they have good parking.

West Alton Marina is where I used to go all the time. They have restrooms and showers and though you have to pay it is a great day trip place to launch/retrieve. Nice location all around.

What's going to happen at Gilford Town docks where I launch now?

Where is Lee's Mills? Do you leave it there or take it in and out. It sounds like you leave it there.

Thats the least we've heard from you since years!

Libby Museum is a great access point for snowmobilers most winters to get to the Ossipee trails as well. :look: ;)
