Whats up with those little 5 X 8 enclosed green trailers on the turn around in between the northbound and southbound lanes on Rt. 93 all the way up? Whats in those things, spare coffee and donuts, tire chains?

I have been told by someone in the know that DOT and State Police keep traffic management devices in there, in case of emergency. Traffic cones, signs etc I guess. They are supposed to pull the stuff out when needed to block off part of the road in case of accidents. I have seen dozens of accidents on 93 since they put those trailers there, including one recent event in which they closed 93 South during the morning commute. None of those events required the use of the contents of the trailers. The closure that I am speaking of was at Exit 2 in Salem. They blocked the highway with a cruiser and flares. They did not use whatever was in the trailer that is parked roughly 100' away.
IMO, a complete waste of $$. But what else is new.

Somebody with some connections that owns a trailer outlet probably had some trailers he needed to get rid of......

Think the trailers contain orange reflective highway cones, in case a safety zone needs to be set up around an accident situation, so they can be trailered to the location fast.

You are correct with what they contain, however most cannot be towed, as the wheels have been removed.
