It was reported that the Mount was getting a new propulsion system (motors) I was wondering if anyone has seen anything on this yet, and is there any pictures of it taking place? I heard that they were cutting the sides open to install them!

Has any body seen the first web blog video uploaded on the www.cruisenh.com web site. I'm getting really excited to see the first cut into the side of the ship. I hope they continue producing short videos to keep all us locals involved in the process. Check it out in Media Room section of their website...

http://www.cruisenh.com/videoblog1.html Thanks! Great video. I have been here since the 50's, but I don't remember Laconia Friut. Can anyone fill me in? It may have been a business before my time.

Check out the links to The Mount's video blog that Lakesrider provided. The photography is excellent. I feel like I'm there as they pull the Doris E and Sophie C into dry dock. It's really interesting. Thx

GH, can you post the overhead picture? Thanks.

DRH posted the overhead photo of the Mount taken back in 1982 when the 25 foot midsection was about to be added. You can find it by searching the Photo Gallery under Mt. Washington and the poster = DRH. It was posted to this website on 5/23/2005. The photocopy I have here from the NY Daily news is a bit tattered. I managed to copy and paste DRH's version here.

I think the Mount rides low in the bow. Seems that the waterline does not show like it used to. I think it has a bigger wake this year. and I don't like the idea that it is quieter. Can't hear it coming before it gets to echo point. But I think it does look better, and one should be able to water ski behind it.

I think Weirs Beach Boater is best suited to talk about this but I believe that the new powerplant is much lighter so they added ballast. Maybe they adjusted the amount and location so it sits different.
