Not only will we have a full moon tonight (if it's even visible past the clouds), but it will be a so-called blue moon to help ring in 2010!
The term "blue moon" generally refers to the second full moon in a month and the last blue moon to shine on New Year's Eve was 19 years ago, in 1990.
I have friends that are buying that brand of beer, and having all the partygoers dress in blue to celebrate the unique occasion!

Seems to be varying definitions of a Blue Moon but it looks like the original inception of the term referred to it as the third full moon in a season where there were 4 and an intrpretation error in 1946 changed the label as it is today.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_moon
"The Farmers' Almanac defined blue moon as an extra full moon that occurred in a season; one season was normally three full moons. If a season had four full moons, then the third full moon was named a blue moon."
"Recent popular usage defined a blue moon as the second full moon in a calendar month, stemming from an interpretation error made in 1946 that was discovered in 1999.[1] For example, December 31, 2009 would be a blue moon according to this usage"

If I heard correctly, the next BLUE MOON, on NEW YEARS EVE, will be in 2028. I will be to old to care. I hope.

Blue Moon was one of the beers served at the Presidential Beer Summit last summer but I'm not sure if it was served to the President, the Professor or the Policeman.

We were up in Bangor Friday night and the pub we were at had Blue moon for free.....:D I needed it after the 6 hour nightmare drive from He!! to get there. I counted 15 cars off the road. 295S was closed for 8 miles, 5 mile backup heading north and a car fire (not mine).....Yeah...Blue Moon alright.:D
Happy New Year everyone.
