I am a year round Moultonboro resident about to finally join the sport of snowmobiling. I was just quoted $700 a year to insure a 2009 SkiDoo GTX.
Can anyone shed light on the cost of snowmoblie insurance? My SeaDoo insurance is less than half the cost. Just looking for some experienced guidance. Thank you and Happy Holidays to all.

The size of the motor makes a big difference. With my insurance company, dropping below 500cc cuts the insurance in half. As for the boat, Less than 300 HP or a small block cuts the cost almost 66%!

I insure my 'toys' with the same company I insure my home and car. Great multi policy discount.

That price is absolutely ridiculous!! I have a 2009 SkiDoo Adrenaline Etec and I pay around $150.00 for the entire year! My policy is through Lee Belanger Allstate out of Manchester.

I use Kurt Wicks out of Manchester(603-668-7228). He is an Allstate agent. I have all my insurances with him/Allstate. I have 2 "older" "97", "91" Polaris sleds that my annual cost is $79.00. Even when the 97 XLT 600cc was brand new it less than half of what any other insurer was quoting.

As for that $700.00 quote, If this guy is providing you with other insurances, I would start look for another agent and insurer fast.

I had my '04 Ski Doo 600 insured with Progressive a few years ago...$600/yr
I switched to Liberty Mutual for a year...$300/yr
I have since switched to Allstate (Kurt Wicks)...$165/yr. In fact I just added a 2009 Ski Doo 600, and the cost for both sleds is less than what I was paying Liberty Mutual for one single sled.

So, I highly recommend Kurt Wicks-Allstate out of Manchester. Give them a call, you will have a quote in no time.

I second Allstate and Kurt Wicks. I was paying $600 for two sleds. I just bought a new Polaris Dragon added to my Polaris FST and both sleds were insured for a total of $236.40 with a $100 deductible and 250k/500k coverage. I called and had a quote in 30 minutes.

I switched from Liberty to Allstate and saved over 50%. these are sample rates from my agent in Rochester, Scott Sherman for any of you down that way. I believe they both advertise in the Sno-Traveler. BTW I got an even higher price from Progressive than from Liberty.

I have insured through Allstate. I guess the snowmobile insurance business is as big a scam as the rest of the insurance world.....

Wish I had seen this before!! Came into work Mon morning after the long weekend to find that someone had cut the lock to our fenced in yard. Stole my white Snow Dock clamshell traler, 94 Arctic Cat Panter Deluxe, & 2000 Polaris 600 touring sled. Had never thought about having insurance on the toys

I just called Kurt Wicks Allstate and they are outstanding.

Had a quote in about 10 minutes.

My Liberty Mutual policy for 2 sleds was $392 with $500 deductibles

My new Allstate policy is $173 with $100 deductibles!

Thats alot of gas for the sleds!!!!!

Because I have my properties insured with Hartford, my sled and trailer premium is below $100.

Best bet is to go with a larger carrier, that way you have no worries about crossing state lines or going into Canada, although you if you venture into Canada it'd be advisable to check with your insurance company to be sure they will cover you up there. Theft is a HUGE problem in Canada.

I have full coverage on both my machines via State Farm with $100.00 deductibles on each. Cost is $100 and $106 per sled per year respectively. That's for identical coverage as posted for Allstate earlier.

Even your sea doo coverage seems pretty high. I'd consider getting a quote for that if your in the process of shopping around.

Is that for year round coverage or seasonal?? The reason I ask is I have State farm for my home, auto and umbrella policy and have been with them for 20 + years. They could not even come close to Allstate for Snowmobiles and Progressive for my boats...
