Help......

Looking for a place where I can purchase a 'Winnipesaukee' map, suitable for framing. Something large like 2'x3' , or similiar size.

Either a local lake bookstore or an Internet vendor who carries this type of inventory.

Thanks,
Bigdog

I think you will find what you are looking for here. Blacks in Wolfeboro may have some maps also.

I love the tiny little map room at Moultonboro General Store; there's somethere there for everyone.

The best map available which is suitable for framing comes from Duncan Press. I purchased this one http://www.duncanpressinc.com/PaperWinni.htm for my camp last year and had it framed. It's absolutely beautiful and I have had many compliments on it.

Hawkin's Print Shop on Main St, Meredith, across from the U.S. Post Office, has a couple different interesting lake maps that are probably more a landscape than a navigational map for about 75-dollars. Keep hoping to find one at the transfer station's free store in early September when all the rich waterfront folks return back to wherever....

My Father (in the 1960s) had maps of the lake laminated (a very sturdy laminate) which he then fabricated into coffee tables with the laminated lake maps serving as the top of tables surrounded by mosaic ceramic tiles and set into a wooden table top (no, he was not a builder or furniture maker!!). He made them for all of our lake neighbors, and we still have two of these beautiful coffee tables at our cottage (as do our neighbors) and we all enjoy seeing (and using) the fruits of my Father's labors of so many years ago.

Is an awesome map of lake Winni and surounding lakes. You can see the Ossipee Mtn range as an extinct volcano. As is the Belknap Mtn range with Rattlesnake Island as a part of it.

Great convesation piece and suitable for framing. It's an odd size so it may have to be custom.

The publisher is the Lakes Region Association in Center Harbor NH.

We have framed two of these Dunkin Maps. Dark green mat looks great.
Map about 26x26. You get a great appreciation for how big the volcano was that formed the Ossipee mountains.

Is there a source for Lakes Region maps as digital, high res images?

I got the Dunkin (Is that really the name of it? I thought it was something else...) map and had it framed at Michael's when they had a 50% off custom framing sale. I even got the anti reflective glass. (matt glass) I think it cost me around $125.00 at the time. Came out pretty nice and it is still hanging right next to my front door in the entryway. That way I can show the in-laws were they are when I kick them out the door for staying too long.

The Dunkin Press Maps impressed me more because they showed the elevations on the many mountains around the Lake. This was particularly helpful to me, as I so enjoy snowmobiling the mountains, as well as the Lake... Bizer... however, as far as boating on the Lake, I found Bizer's maps more accurate... I still have copies of both.

I do have a question for Bizer. My copy of your 6th edition map has the spelling of "littlemark" Island in lower cased letters. I trusted you enough to title one of my photos in the Alton section in PhotoPost as such. Any update would be greatly appreciated...

I have a beautiful map of the lake framed from 1953. I also have a book of boat rules from that year as well. (no they are not for sale.)I remember water sking at sun down and being stopped by the marine police. The book said that you could ski from sunrise to one half hour after sunset. We were well in compliance, however the police never heard of that rule. The police were born after that book was published. It took some talking but when I offered to show the police the copy of the book they let us go. Memories of the Lake will go on forever for me.

I have seen great maps with elevation lines 26x27, framed in various ways at Hawkins' Gallery opposite Meredith Post Office. It's been made for years and is updated by Duncan Pres; it's called Central Lakes and is not a navigation chart, but had depths and is great wall decor.

They recently had a poster made from aerial images, maybe high altitude military aircraft, which was pretty special.
Elegant framing options and conservation glass.
