It looks like a Chain Pickerel.

definitely a pickerel
below is pic of 12 lake trout that I caught through the ice Jan 09 on Winnisquam grandson was happy too

sorry to say that no he was not there that day but they ( twin brothers)
go out on the ice allot with me and here they are with their first brook trout through the ice and it was their first time being on the ice too!!!

They twist and turn when hooked, pretty good fight, good to eat, but not nearly as tasty as a trout.....just my opinions.

Year later, same bay another chain pickerel. Only two (of these) I've caught in 13 years. 2010 was my first year without catching a salmon. Are they getting smarter and the pickerel dumber?

Thanks a nice laker :). I have never caught one yet but still trying hehe. Now im stuck on this <a href="http://www.bcduplication.com" style="color: rgb(51, 47, 42) ! important; text-decoration: none ! important; cursor: default ! important;">cd printing</a> project because I have a deadline but would really like to get out and try to fish - its been a while and im getting cabin fever already haha.
