My husband and I were talking last night about how sad it is too see the summer end, but then how quickly it seems to come around again. It has been six months now since we left Echo Point, but we've only four months to go before we return. The older I get, the faster time flies. My husband's family is already planning their August vacation at the lake.

Now, I picked a late ice out date - May 1. So, let's not start talking about early ice out dates. No ice out until May! No ice out until May!

By the way, it is 60 degrees here in "beautiful" north Jersey today and I can finally see some of the muddied and disgusting grass, such as it is, in my backyard. Finally. Give me the sand and the water any day. But no ice out just yet!

It may be 60 in Jersey but its still Feb. and when the wind blows off that three foot thick ice cube out there summer seams a long way away!

Hi Jersey Girl- we enjoy your posts " down here " in Florida. And love the Winnepesauki web site- It is our HOME page. Yes, it's nice in Florida-sometimes-, but NOTHING COMPARES to our beautiful "Winni" in the summer. We too, get there once a year to join my sister and her family in Moultanboro- We cry when we leave and we can't WAIT to get back. --best regards--Mary Anne & Gil

My husband and I were up to our friends home over the weekend and we went for a long walk on the lake on Saturday and Sunday. The temperature was 55 degrees. We had to remove our jackets half way through the walk because we got so heated up with gloves, jackets and ear muffs. It was absolutly a great weekend for walking on the lake and enjoying what nature has provided us.

Hope more people were able to enjoy it like we did. It may have been the last safe weekend for enjoying the ice since we are expecting to get a lot of warmth and rain this week.

Think warm and boating. It won't be long now.

Ice out will be on April 9 at 10 am. It has never happened on this date in my fathers 83 years, so it better happen this year. May 1st ice out will cause the water to be cold still on Labor day with perhaps the next ice formation. LOL Can't wait to put my boat in the water.

Although it's getting warm, March has been known to produce some good snow storms as well as cold weather. We just did over 800 miles in 3 days in the Moosehead lake area of Maine.
I'd like to see more snow so I can get in a few more rides.
I'll settle for starting my boating season at the end of May.
