Today's papers report that the Big Apple in Laconia, a Shell gasoline & coffee stop, was robbed last night at about 8pm. A woman dressed in black demanded money and quickly left with the cash. "She indicated she had a gun but didn't show one."
Considering the penalty if caught, why would someone go and do that? Besides the criminal penalty, it's just not a nice thing to do! Isn't it just so much easier to go get yourself a job through the state employment office just next door on Union Ave, or at least go get yourself a city, town or state job?
Haven't you been looking, how's it going? Not being being a smart A but it's tough out there. And no, that doesn't justify robbery.

....thanks for asking......between some survivor stock dividends like big tobacco and big beer and eat'n the McDonald's dollar menu, I'm losing weight but surviving,
I think I know why the woman in black holding an imaginary handgun done robbed the Big Apple. She must have invested her lifetime savings in General Motors, Chrysler, Lehman Brothers, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Washington Mutual, Bear Sterns, Country Wide, or American International Group,
Anyone dumb enough to invest in historically safe blue chips with 100-year histories of growth & safety would probably be likely to rob a gas station, too. Think about it, it could well be the woman was a cash strapped 90-year old, who quietly left her nearby Taylor Community assisted living condo to "visit" the Big Apple store..... just across the street ..... to boost her monthly cash flow...... which was gett'n a little short. :rolleye1:

If she is from there. I can see why. The association is a huge rip off.

The Laconia Police arrested a local woman, about 24 years old. According to the Laconia Daily Sun, she parked next door in the parking lot in a borrowed car at the New Hampshire Employment Security p-lot at about 10-pm and walked into the Big Apple and indicated she had a gun. She got about 275 dollars.
The mugshot photo in the LaDaSun showed a light complexion female with blonde hair.
That all seems like a very crazy thing to do. Isn't it very unusual for a woman, as opposed to a man, to go ahead with an unarmed but supposedly 'armed' robbery in Laconia. What the heck was she thinking at the time?
Was she totally broke of money?
Sometimes, people will do something very wacky when they are a little drunk.....so maybe that was the case? Tough to comprehend?
At least there was no personal injuries involved. That could make a large difference in the judicial outcome in my opinion.
As Bill Clinton used to say: "The best social program around is a good paying job!"
And, as George Bush said about four years ago: "I feel very comfortable being here with you tonight, the haves and the have-mores!" ....wink, grin, applause.... (Dec 22, 2005 at a fund raiser dinner)

What I find so strange about this discussion, is the fact that no one has mentioned the boxer shorts the woman wore on her head; or the fact that the police rounded up suspects that fit the description. Exactly how many women in Laconia are there running around with boxer shorts on their heads that the police could go out and round them up???

That was my thought exactly. My understanding is that "tighty whities" are "de rigeur" for the well appointed robber this season. What is it with the boxer shorts??
Seriously, drug addiction is gender neutral and my guess is that this is at the root of the problem.
This is another example of "what was he/she thinking?"

You need to go down to Walmart and pick up the movie, "Fun with Dick and Jane", with Jim Carrey. It all depends what shoes you are in...

About one block down Union Ave from the Big Apple, the Rite Aid had an attempted oxycontin robbery yesterday on Tuesday afternoon. The Laconia Police arrested a 40 year old Laconia man. According to the newspaper article, he had asked for oxycontin and indicated he had a gun with his hand, but the Rite Aid employee refused to give any to him.
I know I must sound like a big dummy but I could never understand what's the human attraction to narcotics. Getting addicted to tennis, fishing, sailing, skiing, boating, dancing or making money....that I can understand.....but getting attracted to narcotics......like what is the big attraction?
Rush Limbaugh supposedly caught an oxycontin addiction as a result of being prescribed oxycontin during the healing process of a medical operation to restore his hearing, which he had almost totally lost. And he was able to lose the addiction. So, good for Rush. Ok, that addiction....I can understand......and he later beat it.
So, why do people let themselves get hooked? What good is going to the dentist if it is not painfull? The dentist is supposed to hurt and be very painfull! No pain, no gain!
