I'm new to the lakes region and looking for a place to keep a 20' inboard ski boat. Looking at the size of Winnipesaukee, I have to assume that most of the lake is very choppy. Its obviously a great lake for pleasure boats, but are there areas of the lake that are good for water skiing? Are these areas entirely too crowded? Should I look at one of the smaller lakes nearby? Finally, any recomendations for a good marina to rack my boat?

Thanks in advance for any advice, it is very much needed.

I have a Malibu Sunsetter that is kept on Winnisquam. We are able to ski most weekdays any time and on weekends we have good water before 10 and after 4. We are on the northern end of the lake though. It is quite a bit more crowded to the south.

I would suggest looking at some of the other lakes in the area. Someone may be able to post a list here. I know there has to be at least 15 lakes big enough to ski in the lakes region. You may want to trailer the first year to find which one you like best.

I do know that a lot of people ski on the big lake, but IMO I think depending on smooth water out there could be tough.

I like Little Squam in Holderness the best - virtually no buoys!

You probably do not want to hear from me but we have a Malibu Wakesetter XTI on the western shore line of Winnisquam north of the bridge. Unlike the Sunsetter we make a big wake for the kids to wakeboard at the same time we are looking for flat water. It is becoming more difficult on Winnisquam during the weekends to find these conditions outside of the 6:00AM to 9:00AM window at mid lake. If I go to the northern end of the lake we are probably working against each other . . .

Don't worry about it. We ski in the Cove at Waldron Bay and I would rather worry about someone who understands about driving a tow boat then any of the other issues out there (don't want to start one of those threads).

Worst case I can just drop the wedge, hook up to my tower and wakeboard with you. I love both sports I was just trying to answer his questions about skiing.

We should connect, I am always looking for a third person as my 6 year old is great at it but not exactly a legal observer.......

By the way, check out the link, it is a great resourse if you have not been there yet.

Thanks for the link. If you bought your boat from East Coast Flight Craft Danny is opening a sales and service store in Merideth on April 1st. Either way we now have local malibu presence.

We have at least 12 people within or circle of families that wakeboard with the ages ranging from 5 to 43. Most of these people compete in the INT league and a few went to the nationals last year including the 5 year old who placed 3rd.

Between us we have the opportunity to use different wakeboard boats (Malibu, Supra, Master Craft, Moomba, and even a Four Winns (yuk))with the Malibu getting the best rating for wake size.

Great group of people to be associated with so we will see you on the lake first weekend ice is out.

It's funny you should mention that. I was just pulling together a list of little things I want done before I pick up my boat. It is stored up there at the new location.

It sounds like you have a great crew. We have company up all the time but nothing so strutured. I was just getting my 5 year old on skis last year and bought a boom to make things easier for her and maybe her little brother this year. If you do get a chance stop by or honk at me. I would really like to hear how you got a five year old to progress so quickly and your equipment choices..... My kids love the water I want to make sure I give them the chance to excel if the continue to be interested. I just started wakeboarding a few years ago but love to ski and think the Sunsetter is the perfect boat for Winnisquam.

We are in Waldron Bay a few houses south of the common beach and clubhouse. We have the only towboat in the area so we are really easy to spot.

FYI. Danny also owns a Searay dealership in Conneticut. So if you want to shop (and get a good deal) Instead of dealing with the only dealer on the lake, talk to him.

He sells Cobalt as well. They are very aggressive on price from what I have seen.
