It is pretty sad that what people do during the non-snow seasons can impact snowmobiling. We have seen this happen countless times. People just don't understand how their negligence and disrespect affect others.

RESPECT THE LANDOWNERS!

RESPECT THE LANDOWNERS!

From an Anonymous Source,

After the snow left this Spring, the owner of the 12,000 acres was complaining about ATV's using his property without his permission. Gates were open on roads he used for his business. The Bureau of Trails tried to monitor this. Then the Owner noticed several new hiking trails cut on his land. Rock was blasted, brush & trees were cut. There was even a map of these new trails on a web site. The person is known as the Trail Bandit. He thinks he has a right to develop trails there because the State of NH Trails Bureau has an easement they purchased years ago from the land owner. Putting the acreage into posted closure is a legal procedure to catch this trail bandit. Once caught, he can now be prosecuted, and the land will be reopened. By the way, snowmobiles are NOT part of this closure. If he is not caught, we will still have our trails.

Will the spur trail to Mt. Shaw still be open? Any movement on regaining the rest (or any) of the trail network that was closed by the new Castle land owners?

From an Anonymous Source,

Yes it will be open. However, the old trail that was re-opened last year (Ridge Trail Connector & Faraway) is not being allowed by LRT. So only have Shaw Mtn Trail.

Chorura Land Company land will be open to snowmobiles only this winter. No ATV’s or hikers this winter, only us!

Everything in Carroll Cty looks good this winter. Grafton & Coos looks good also. Some re-routing up north due to logging, but open trails for us

Glad to hear there will be a few trails open in that area.
Trail Bandit sounds like your typical tree hugger with good intentions gone awry.
Is it me or are four wheelers proliforating.. they cause alot of damage when theres no snow. Derby weekend should be renamed the Four wheeler jamboree..

This Spring I had to move large boulders to block the trail that runs through my property. Renters on the next road kept driving their small pickups down the trail. I chased them down and was told another neighbor had told them it was ok to go mudding on the trails. I set them straight but put the rocks there just in case. They will be moved when the snow flies.

Great job! Sometimes it takes that extra work makes a difference in keeping unwanted vehicles off the trails.

If you haven't already, make sure you inform the snowmobile club of this.

Thanks for allowing the use of your property. It is sad that you have to deal with the problems you have to deal with. Unfortunately some folks think the world revolves around them. It's not as if there isn't enough sinage and education. People just plain ignore it.

As H-nut stated, thank you for allowing the use of your property. It seems that in many situations in life, it is the few that ruin things for the majority.
