This what your looking for?

Once your picture is uploaded to PhotoPost, right click, go down to properties and grab the location link. Use the little picture with the little mountains and add the link there. Good luck.

Is this a perch of some kind?

I like these name that fish posts. Thanks!

Egads! The mythical Winnipesaukee rockbass has
actually been photographed!

At least that's what it appears to be to me.... though
I haven't caught one in quite some time... Goose Pond
in Canaan is absolutely loaded with them...

I'm going to say Rock Bass though I've never seen one in NH, used to catch them years ago in upstate NY by the 1000 Islands on the St Lawrence.

AKA Rock Perch and is a species of Sunfish.

Am I close?

Pleasant lake in Elkins NH and Lake Sunapee both have Rock Bass tournaments ever year to try and get rid of these from the lakes. There is quite a bounty on them over here and you can get money or a credit of some kind for every fish you bring in dead.

Thanks for the picture, I have never seen one.

Both events have passed for this year but if you are interested the sites update regularly for next year.

That Rock Bass (Ambloplites rupestris), rupestris means living among rocks, was caught in the Sou’ Eastern part of Lake Winnipesaukee in 2008. It was caught in shallow water in late May by a kid fishing a crawler a couple of feet under a bobber. It was the first one I had ever seen in 27 years of fishing “Winni”.

Grant took some underwater pictures of Rock Bass while diving at Lady of the Lake. In some old threads he keeps promising us a fish fry!

I have a buddy who thinks they make a fine meal. I don't see why the wouldn't taste similar to many other fish. I forgot all about Grant's posts. That was 2 or 3 years ago if memory serves me correctly.
