EDIT I just figured out I read the website incorectly./ The ** designate which marinas are subsidized. WCYC is not so I guess they can charge what they want...

Saturday I paid $15 to get a waste pump out at a Wolfeboro Corinthian Yacht club. I thought the maximum charge was $5 but I was not sure at the time so I paid the money and left.

After researching a little I found the DES site that lists the marinas that got state money and the WCYC is listed. A call to WCYC just confirmed there charge is $15. Is this legal or are they charing too much????

Lucky for you the Goodhue & Hawkins Navy Yard is just across the bay and they did take CVA funds. They can only charge $5.

Most marinas on the busy side of the lake give free pumpouts with a fuel purchase. I'm always shocked by the service prices or lack of basic services once you leave the Weirs area. You really have to plan and know where to go.

I went to goodhue first but there were 3 boats waiting for gas so I stopped by WCYC. The tank was full so I really had no choice. We keep the boat in Moultonboro and there really isn't a pump out up that way.

I went to Shep's last time but the gas dock is just so rough there on a weekend....

Sometime you have to do what you have to do.

I remember paying almost 50 cents more a gallon for gas at Downings in Alton. Didn't plan very well and got stuck down there with too little gas. Now they don't even sell gas in Alton bay.

Looking at the pumpout map, it is surprising that there are few pumpouts on that side of the lake. I'm surprised Melvin village doesn't have one. Quayside is on the map but not in the listing. Both might have a private one for their slip tenants but not for public use.

It kinda looks like the old saying, "those that like the niceties have to pay for them". :)
