Hello Eveyone,
I am bringing my son who six years old fishing over the July 4th weekend and wondering if anyone can recommend a place to take him Bass fishing (catch and release) in the Weirs Beach area or surrounding area? We don't have a boat but I prefer to be fishing from a dock or shoreline with him being so young. We have tried in the past the public docks at Weirs Beach and the channel with little luck. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I would like to have him experience the thrill of catching a bass.

Thanks,

DYKG

The rocks on the beach side of the Weirs Channel might be your best bet. It is better than the docks and most of the other lake front is private.

I see private 2 hour trips at $100 and 3 hour trips at $150 being advertised at the bait shop on Route 3 between the Weirs and the Margate. It might be worth a look.

Good luck!

If your willing to travel just a bit there are a few popular fishing spots downtown Laconia. the Fair Street bridge, the Messer Street bridge and the Church Street bridge are a few places you might try in Laconia. My other favorite spot is in Moultonboro is Long Island bridge. Best of luck!

Has several bridges that are excellent fishing spots between Paugus Bay, Lake Opechee and Lake Winnisquam. There is a couple of bridges below Lake Winnisquam over the Winnipesaukee River. Good Luck!

When Misses Waves and I got married we asked that very question of the Paugus Bay Sporting Goods folks and were told to drop a line into the water at the Weirs where the Mount docks as soon as the Mount leaves on its trips.

Theory being that the prop wash stirs things up and the bass come in to feed on what's been kicked up off of the bottom.

Dropping a line into the water near or under docks at around dusk is usually pretty successful as well. (dawn is wayyy too early for me!) :)
