We were working on our deck and heard the boats coming, so we sat there and watched them go by. It was an impressive sight to see from that angle.
I only had my phone and no camera, so this is the best shot I was able to get.
And the best part is none of the boats appeared to be speeding in the broads. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Glad to see Easter Seals had a successful event. Hope to be part of it next year.
Not to open a can of worms but why was that the "best part"?
Also based on that photo, I don't think you can measure 150' between them. I am suprised the legal cowboys haven't jumped up and down over that yet. I don't care if they were within 150' for it looks very safe to me, but usually that causes many posters to go wild.

Sorry OCD, I didn't see your post way back when,
The reason that was the best was sarcasm, I miss seeing the boats speed by in the broads and it was good to see that they appeared to have had broken speedometers that day.
That said, I was watching from a distance and could be wrong, I assume that were were going 45mph and 150 ft apart. :D

Easter Seal and Donzi poker runs are two seperate venue. Woodsy will fill you in on the Donzi.
There is another event at the beginning of bike week. A poker run around the lake to honor Peter Makris. This run raises money for the Laconia Fire Dept. rescue boat.
I love participating in these events. The folks along The Broads says it is exciting to see the boats go by. It is the best show since the APBA races back in the 90's. Although I did not participate in those races, I did volunteer to keep boaters off the course.
Another race I miss was the 70 miles water ski marathons back in the 60's and 70's. They were pretty wild as there were every conceivable type of boats racing from Boston Whalers to cabin cruisers. LOL!

Thats funny... They even had an MP escort and people still complained..
Anyway marking my calendar now! No conflicts for the 24th.. Will be fun running with the donzi's. I always loved how donzi's look. Very cool looking boats with one great hull design.

Hoping to do the Peter Makris Memorial Ride. I have never done this before. Is it similar to the Easter Seals run? Is there a specific starting point? Specific stops etc?

I'm not completely sure of the specifics, but here is a rundown of the event from 2007:
Makris Honored in New Event (http://warchild.blog-city.com/peter_makris_memorial_ride__run.htm)
By KRISTA MARRS
The Citizen of Laconia
LACONIA - In honor of a man who loved motorcycles and spending time with his family at the waters edge, the Naswa Resort will hold the inaugural Peter Makris Memorial Ride & Run this Saturday.
The memorial ride around Lake Winnipesaukee will not only celebrate the life of Naswa's patriarch, Makris, but it will also serve as a fundraiser for the Laconia Fire Department's Life Saving Fund and Water Rescue Teams.
Makris, the father figure of the third-generation, family-run Naswa Resort, was a true lover of "the ride" and could often be seen driving around The Weirs and throughout Laconia on his trike motorcycle, sporting the colors of the New Hampshire Leathernecks.
Makris died at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Dana Farber Ward in Boston on Feb. 4 at the age of 82.
Known as "The Golden Greek," Makris served as Belknap County Attorney and a Laconia Ward 6 City Councilor and he was active in Republican politics, but also remained a devoted family man.
The event in his honor will kick off between 10 and 11 a.m. on Saturday as motorcycles and boats will meet at the Naswa, located at 1086 Weirs Boulevard. There participants will receive arm bands, T-shirts, coffee and a Danish.
Participants may sign up at the Naswa Resort, Manchester and Nashua Harley-Davidson and online at www.naswa.com.
From 11:15 and to 1:15 p.m., boats will "run" to the Alton Bay Band Stand to pick up a memento and return to the Naswa. Bikers then will ride around Lake Winnipesaukee, Meredith, Alton, and Gilford with a police escort with a 1:30 p.m. return to the Naswa Beach Bar for live entertainment, prize drawings and plenty of fun.
There also will be a Bike & Boat show and Fire Brigade Bagpipers.

Hey Rob. About one month away and both the website and the naswa site doesn't have any information regarding the "boating" portion of the run. Anyone have the details? Start time? Costs? Stops? Prizes?
