The wife and I just returned from one of the most surprising meals we have had in a long time.:liplick: We decided that we didn’t feel like cooking so we grabbed the kids and went out for a quick meal. We had heard through the grapevine that The North Shore Drive In, on rte 25 in Moultonborough, had wonderful food, and that their wings were spectacular, so we figured we’d check it out. We are wing aficionados and have traveled the country in search of the best wings. Having tried just about every wing in the lakes region we resigned ourselves to the fact that there were no decent wings to be had in these parts. We were so wrong. The first thing we noticed when we entered the establishment was how clean it was. I am not joking when I am telling you it was pristine. The door to the kitchen was propped open and we had a clear view, it was spotless. We were happily greeted by the “1 mean waitress” (the sign outside states that they have 3 nice waitresses and 1 mean one) who wasn’t even close to being mean and was truly a very sweet lady. We were immediately made to feel like family and our “mean waitress” and the owner helped us with our orders. We got a ˝ order of the Debbie wings and a ˝ order of the BBQ wings. We also learned that you can order “bulk sizes” of wings for eat in or take out, which is great news as we like to entertain. I ordered the whole belly clam plate, the wife got the chili cheese dog plate, and the kids ordered off the kids menu. Our meals came out in rapid time and there was not a single thing we would have changed. The wings were amazingly good probably right up there in the top 5 we have ever had, and by far and away the best in this area, the clams were crispy and fresh, the chili on the dogs was out of this world and the fries were crisp and delicious, not to mention the portions were huge. We are of the opinion that when you get fried food, it should be crispy and light not soggy and weighed down and this was exactly how it was served. It was very reasonably priced and we learned that they had a senior discount of 10% off and on Monday night they double that to 20% off. If you have not had a chance to check this place out, put it on the top of the list because it is truly a hidden treasure.
HC. LOL, I saw that sign yesterday when driving by and got a kick out of it! I am glad to hear the one really wasn't mean! I think it is a very clever advertising idea. It kind of makes you want to go in and meet the mean waitress!

I have to agree, and I've agreed in another thread here before - the North Shore is excellent, and the people are local and wicked, wicked nice. The wings are to die for - they're enormous.

wow, I have been missing something I guess. I fell into the trap of judging a book by its cover. We will be sure to check it out!

...delish! We split some Debbie wings to start, yum, my husband had the haddock platter, which was an empty plate when he was done so I'm assuming it was good:laugh:, I had a bison burger with cheese which was excellent, and the little one had a kids double cheeseburger and she finished every last bite of it, which was astonishing. All that plus 2 bottles of water and a bottle of pink lemonade for a reasonable $35. The fries there are some of the best around, too. :liplick:
I am stuffed. I need a nap now! Y'all need to stop driving by this place and drive in.

Ok so I finally stopped in at the north Shore.
After reading about the wings I figured i would give it a whirl.
holy Carp. they were good. I have noticed a bit more traffic parked there so maybe they are getting the word out that they actually have good food.
I think the outside look of the building is stopping people from pulling in. Not that it is a dump or anything close, but the log cabin look doesn't scream good food to people.
Well here is to hoping they get more people in.
I strongly recommend getting some of the wings.....:D

:D My little one and I just got back from dinner at The North Shore. I'm not usually one to order haddock, but I was undecided and Brenda said it was great, so I ordered the haddock special. Whoa. That was the best piece of fish I've had in recent memory, it was excellent. They have the best fries there, too. My little one scarfed down her cheeseburger and didn't leave a crumb.
I believe they are open Thursdays through Mondays right now, and Monday is Senior Citizen discount day. Thankfully Brenda didn't offer me a discount. I'm not quite AARP status yet;)
If you haven't stopped in there, you ought to. I have never left there anything other than stuffed full and perfectly happy.
does anyone know when they close for the season? I've got to get some wings before they do!
Last weekend for North Shore is this upcoming weekend - Friday, Saturday and Sunday (provided they still have food left on Sunday!)
Get your wings while you can!
...I also heard through the grapevine that they will have Corn Chowder again on Friday - I hope it lasts this weekend!

Where on Rt 25 are they located? Not sure I have seen it? Nice to hear such great things. Would like to put it on the list of "places i want to try"!
Thanks!
heading east on rt 25, past Moult town center, they are on the right before you get to the turn for rt 109 (across from Berry Pond/Airport)
