They're adorable.

Where on the lake did you take the pics?

Thank you jk, they were taken on White Oaks Rd. Laconia (we're not lucky enough to be right on the water) :(
That's probably why they enjoy the water garden a couple of time's a day.

I have had kits playing in my yard for several years now. Except this year. I don't know what happened but I haven't seen any around. Not even the grown foxes. Hopefully no one poisoned them.
From last year.....

"...These little guy's are enjoying our water garden as mom keeps guard..."

1) She's "keeping guard", all right: Her eyes are directly on YOU!

2) A few years ago, a rambunctious baby fox ran out onto the road: With alarm, the pup spotted my approaching car and skittered back to the cover of the woods.

"Skittered", because the pup couldn't get any traction on the road surface—like it was a freshly waxed floor—Too Funny.

3) It's not too unusual to hear foxes "barking" softly at night: Last Monday, I saw an adult fox on my lot for the first time—in the middle of the day.

A LARGE fox.

4) Also last Monday, I came across an adult fox standing in the middle of Tuftonboro's Ledge Hill Road. Twenty minutes later, I came across a second adult fox trotting next to Wolfeboro's Forest Road.

What else would be snared in his teeth but a muskrat! (http://www.winnipesaukee.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7613&highlight=muskrat)

I expect they'll be back: A chipmunk that I'd previously trained in 2007, who skipped 2008, returned this Spring—in 2009.

Oops...a correction. Make that: Chipmunk "Alfie" has been training me! :p

(No sooner I type that and he's got his nose on the front window! "Time to feed the chipmunk".) :o

On a totally different note, "Forest Green" is a nice color, but shouldn't PVC pipes (as pictured) be available in "Camoflage"?

Awesome that you get to see them in sunlight. The ones that played in my yard in the morning, were usually gone by sunrise. I would have to be up at around 4 am to see them. But, I did see, and here them in the woods at night. The Mama would actually come right up to my deck with me sitting there. But the Papa Fox would just be out in the woods barking or growling at me.

Last night I heard some loud grunting, off in the dark not too far away, when I went out on the deck. I also heard what sounded like a small tree coming down. I assume this was Mr/Mrs. Bear warning me to stay away....

Thank you so much for sharing those pictures, what a treasure! I haven't seen a fox for so long around the lake I was beggining to wonder. They are truly beautiful.

There's been a red fox hanging around our neighborhood in Wolfeboro the past few days. My husband was outside yesterday and the fox came charging across our driveway chasing something. Aren't foxes usually nocturnal animals?

I don't think foxes are classified as nocturnal, like raccoons are for instance. However that doesn't excuse them from wandering out once in a while at night. I could be wrong though ;)

I have seen plenty of foxes both day and night!
