Someone mentioned the "Fire Danger" signs on another thread. My perception is that the signs are inconsistent so that on the same day the one in Meredith says the fire danger is "high" and Moultonborough says it is "low." It wouldn't matter so much if there were not a serious intent and purpose behind the signs ,but they do not seem to be very reliable except to at least make people think about fire danger. I have nothing but the highest respect for firefighters, but what is the story behind the signs? Who is responsible for their accuracy? In some ways if they are not somewhat accurate, it probably would be better not to have them at all.

I have to agree with you, as it would seem that these signs need to be accurate, because they also tell those of us that have seasonal permits when we can and cannot have a camp fire, without creating the hazard and hassle of having the local PD and FD show up.

We picked up our seasonal permit on Friday from the Gilford F.D. and there were no restrictions burning on friday night...
