The Loons are back!
Saw 3 in front of my camp yesterday in Alton Bay, actually in Loon Cove :). The same single loon that has been here for years was the first to show up. I can't believe they know when the ice goes out before any of us. Good thing they can't enter contest.

Every year we have a single loon that shows up and is here all season. We like to believe it is the same one.
Aren't they amazing? ANd they know just when to leave in the fall too. But let's not think about that now! We have a single one and a pair in our area. The pair have kind of taken over. The single one (who has been around many more years than the pair) is still around, just stays further out. Believe it or not they seem to know our voices and we can swim very close to them and they don't care, whereas if they hear someone else they get away quickly. I hope we have a baby this year, but we worry so about them, it is easier on our nerves if they don't!!!! But I still hope they do, it is worth the worrying!
