Where do you buy Snowmobile Parts?

Just out of curiosity where do YOU buy your belts and accessories? Locally and online? I am in need of a belt, not an emergency but I would like to buy it sooner than later. Any advice and experiences with pricing and shipping costs (if ordered online). My last belt was purchased at HK and it cost over $80. I know that was too much. I needed it though. I have seen online prices as low as $50. So any advice is much appreciated here.

I guess I have a different philosophy on this issue. I buy locally even though I might be paying a little more because I want my local shop to be there when I need repairs, advice, or parts NOW. The obvious followup question is how much of a premium are you willing to pay to give the business to a local shop? I don't have a set amount. I guess I figure if a business wants to stay in business they are going to keep their prices within reason. Maybe I'm too trusting. On the other hand if I find out I'm getting ripped off I take my business to a different local shop.

I order most of my accessories from denniskirk.com. The more mechanical stuff I'll work through a the dealer that sells my brand of sled. That way, the part is exactly the same as it came from the factory and I dont have to worry about it. However, on stuff like belts I order from Denniskirk.com because from the dealer the belt on my sled runs about 95 bucks. On denniskirk they are 75. Just my opinions. Hope that helps.

Definately order local but select a shop that is really local and has good people that enjoy the sport. HK in my opinion is not looking to help anyone but themselves. The sales staff are not helpful and only when you prove to them that they do not know what they are talking about, treat you terribly. There are alot of smaller guys and gals around that would appriciate your business more and will go the extra mile to keep you coming back. Plus it is always fun to talk shop with the crews at the smaller shops, they are there because they enjoy the hobby as much as you do.

I buy local when I can but I can say that I've had a difficult time buying local due to dealers not being open. If you are out on the trail and break something on Saturday, I end up ordering online so that I have the item for the next week. No dealers are open on Sundays and I don't have the option of running around to dealers during the week. I just order and get it during the week. However, any savings is usually wiped out due to the extra shipping that I pay to get it early.

If I owned a local snowmobile shop, I'd close down Monday and Tuesday and make sure I was open Saturday and Sunday. There seems to be a lot of money to be made.

DaSilva in Moultonborough is open Sunday 9-12 so if something happens Saturday there's a chance you could get a part there, call first though.
