View Full Version : Garden Space to Rent Out?

Are there any places in the Lakes region where I may rent out a plot so I can grow some veggies? I don't have a back yard and currently can only garden out of pots on my deck.
I called the UNH cooperative and that turned into them telling me to call city hall and city hall telling me to call them. When I finally reached someone to offer assistance, the closest one they knew about was in Vermont. I live in Weir's Beach and I am willing to drive a fair distance but Vermont is a little too far.
Thank you!
Nicole

Nicole:
On Rte. 106 North, or North Main Street, or Parade Rd. just north of its intersection with Old North Main Street and Elm Street/Meredith Center Rd. there are garden plots tended to in season, across the street from the Lakes Region Facility. I know nothing about the logistics, arrangements or ownership of this property so take this for what it is worth.

Thank you- I will look into that!

I didn't find many in NH using the American Community Gardening Association (http://www.communitygarden.org/about-acga/) website.
The UNH Cooperative Extension (http://extension.unh.edu/) is interested in compiling a list of community gardens in NH. Perhaps you could contact them for assistance.

Thanks. Yes- I called the UNH Cooperative and all they were able to offer was one in Vermont. That is a little too far.
Thanks again!

Tuftonboro has some plots they rent out right next to the town hall. That may be a long way if you are in Laconia or Gilford. I think I might have heard it is $50 but I might have dreamed that up!

The Community School of Tamworth has a co-op type arrangment with folks to help out in the fields, etc. for a share of the produce from this organic farm. Perhaps this is something you could look into? Rte 25 to Rte 113 on the left heading toward Rte 16.
