The 5 maybe 6 inches of heavy wet snow have done wonders for the lake. The trails seem to have gotten a much needed dose as well. As of 9:00am I tested the lake from Patrician Shores area to Center Harbour and the trail from Center Harbour to Kanasatka. Thankfully the snow is wet and it packs very easy. I will defer to the experts as to what this means for the weekend. For now it seems like a nice bandage on what was a severe wound. I am sure we could always use more but my guess is that this type of snow is worth double what the fluffy light stuff is. We shall see.

So far so good.

Ha ha ha not yet! I am on my way in just a couple of minutes. The Village Kitchen was calling me and I had to address more important needs prior to venturing out to the island. Those needs being my stomach and the filling of it with food. Now that that's out of the way I can get going!

Thinking of coming up tomorrow any recommendations?

Was thinking of parking at either the Weirs or Meredith.

Could also go to Alton and ride the lake if its in good shape???

Thanks - GH

If the groomers get out tonight, and it gets a little cooler this could save the trails. I would like to see another small storm with heavy wet snow on top of this to be real good. Lake definately will be better. Watch out however some of the pressure ridges are making a late appearance.

Lake is actually quite good. I have seen a couple of pressure ridges. I went from Center Harbour out towards Braun Bay then over Long Island Beach through to Cow Island (Barbers Pole) between Tuftonboro Neck. I also travelled towards Harilla Landing (End of Long Island) and back to Cow. Conditions were very good considering how bad it was two days ago.

I only had a few minutes yesterday so I went for a quick ride from Meredith to Center Harbor on 15. The snow did wonders for the coverage but the trail was not in good shape. Not even sure they'll be able to groom the moguls out of that stretch, but we'll see. Wanted to see how coverage was on the rail beds but I ran out of time. My guess is they are still exposed but a good dose of Sunday snow would cure that.

Honestly the Lake is in PRIMO condition. The trails were ok. Not too bad at all. The 15 from Center Harbor to Meredith is 50/50. Coverage is ok but the once you get up on the mountain the woopdie doos are brutal. The rail trail from Meredith to Southdown Shores was actually quite good. Coverage was good with low to minimal rail exposure.

Once again the lake is in AWESOME shape. We went from Weirs Beach to Long Island through Bear and Mark and when we got to the stretch from Bear Island to Long Island 70 MPH on a cloud, felt like 20 MPH. :D So nice nary a pressure ridge to be seen. The only one was like less than a foot high.
