So I found the thread that This'N'That started very interesting in regards to how people picked their user names. I thought I would be a creative copy cat and start this thread. How did you pick your avatar? Is there history behind it? I see some very interesting and funny ones on here, and with that many that I would love to know the meaning behind.

Mine is a picture of my one-year-old daughter Jenna :D

Mine was just damn funny...And fitting being that my wife makes jokes about the stuff that is probably in the lake.

My avitar is simple. It is me driving the family boat the ELBO II when I was 13 (1964) in Alton Bay just off the shore from our cottage. My dad wanted pictures of the boat as we had just bought it. So being the only other one available to drive & dock I was selected. Mom couldn't even start the boat let alone drive or dock it.

I live here, I am always "upthesaukee", and that is my avitar: Winnipesaukee as seen from by Plum Island in Roberts Cove, looking toward Rattlesnake.

Only cause that I enjoy all four seasons here, I do change my avatar, on occasion not flip, for the awesome time of year!

I needed something to go with my user name, which I pirated from the 1979 movie of the same name. The byline is also from the movie.

Well...I thought it captured a "fun" lakes region scene, was a postcard (of course) and was very colorful. Upon closer inspection one can see that the woman sitting on the raft is not pregnant but is holding a beach ball! Remember my old avatar, the "dancing man", that used to drive everyone nuts?

It's about time I changed my avitar. Can someone please remind me how to do it? Thanks.

It just reminds me of the Ole Geezer (me) keeping our Little Slice of Heaven warm on the lake. It will change as the seasons change.:)

Go to your User CP and click on edit avitar

We rescued this Old English Sheepdog in May 2007 (she is somewhere between 7 and 9). She's my first dog (been a cat person for years) I've learned what joy a dog brings to your soul. She's my angel! :)

Calvin is (was?) one of my favorite fictional characters, and it seemed to be lake related even though I don't fish.

I have a large collection of various avatars, I thought this one had a good sense of geeky humor.

This is the view from our deck as the Mount passed by (same view as the webcam that is still down, thank you very much Fairpoint... but I digress). We turned the pic into a label for a batch of homebrews we made with Misty Blue and friends, and then used it for my avatar!

I do change my avatar from time to time; but the current one is a view from the dock of our very old cottage on the Lake, and we love it!:D

Regarding my Title claim, I would love to see challenges, as long as your family owned the original cottage. I am such a snob. I'll start a new thread for this question.

After sighting my first bald eagle back in 2001, I first used the bald eagle as my avatar. Since then, I've adopted the "fouled anchor", which symbolizes the US Navy family I'm a part of—plus the years of USNR "Bosun's Mate" training I received.

Upon learning of my pre-Medical background, the Navy then placed me into Electronic Warfare. :rolleye1:

"...Regarding my Title claim, I would love to see challenges, as long as your family owned the original cottage. I am such a snob..."
I'm working on a better claim, but I think you've got everyone beat. :)

BTW: I'd like to see this forum adopt a feature "imposed" by another lakes region forum. Each member gets this image until they change it to something else.

I picked mine because no one else had adopted it yet.

It's rather appropriate for me; here I am on the web! :D

195 years and going strong! Built in 1814 and passed down on my Mom's side.

Mine was my first boat named Seeker (a 69 Bertram 31) - how original. There's been about 7 more since then but I still miss her.
