Thats pretty cool. Here I am being nervous about driving a truck on 15" of ice and they pull a house with dollies across only 24". Damn. Makes me feel a little safer having my comparitively light truck out this weekend. Good story.

BB Depending on where you will be I would not worry about driving on the ice from a falling through perspective, however, there is a fair amount of slush and snow on it so make sure your tires are very good.

AAA will NOT tow you off the ice (I saw a guy last year waiting for them for hours! We finally took pity on him and his baloney skinned explorer and manually extricated him)

Good story PG - It should be noted that they calculated that the lake level was 2 feet below normal, and said tests showed that the ice sat on about a foot of water and muck. Not like moving the house across the Broads.
Years ago, they were moving a furnished house across a lake in Connecticut and it fell through. As legend has it, there was a piano in this house and when the conditions were just right you could hear notes made by the lake currents over the piano. When my father took me out on the boat fishing in this lake, he would always ask me if I could hear the piano. He always did!??? Listening for tunes from that piano will always remain a cherished childhood memory.

That was the best story I ever heard ! I wonder if it was playing "Smoke on the water"? Just my twisted sense of humor that's all.
