I have been using an Olympus digicam as a webcam at Sebec Lake in Maine -www.SebecLake.net for several years. Lately I have upgraded from a 2 megapixel to a 6 megapixel camera and I wrote my own software to control it.

This information might be helpful to those that don't want to spend the dollars needed for a Stardot system and can also can keep their camera inside. Mine looks out through a glass porch. Temperatures reach -20F and still keeps running. I don't know if it has been discussed here before that you can easily configure certain Olympus cameras for webcam use using Cam2Com and Pine Tree Computing software and now www.SebecTec.com (that's me).

The quality is good Sebec, but the intelligence of the narrator on the squirrel cam is questionable.

"You can buy a squirrel feeder but after looking at the one at ACE hardware I decided it would be easy enough to make a squirrel feeder out of some scrap wood."

YOU DON'T NEED TO BUY OR MAKE A SQUIRREL FEEDER! Just feed the birds, the squirrels will eat everything that you put out for them.

If you want to make a time lapse movie FFMPEG can take an image sequence and make a video file. I have it set up to automatically make a time-lapse of each day's images. You can see the result on this page which also has info on how to set up your own time lapse. http://www.sebeclake.net/timeLapse.htm
