I am finally spending my first Christmas in the Lakes Region and am curious if anyone knows where I can purchase a reasonably priced Christmas tree during the week, particularly in the north part of the lake, but not limited to it. Thanks and Merry Christmas!

Just past Castle in the Clouds there is a tree farm on the right. You have to go down an uneven dirt road to get there but they have some nice trees. all cut your own. decent trees, mostly of the bigger sizes though. All trees were $35. Not bad considering I stopped at one farm and the 1st tree I looked at was $70.

We got ours on route 3 just north of Plymouth. It might have been in Campton or Thornton. Every tree is $25, cut your own. They had some really nice trees. The place is on the right hand side as you're headed north.

It is possible to cut a tree in the White Mountain National Forest - here is a link with more info. It is very inexpensive and can be quite the adventure.

If you don't want to bother to cut one, the rotary club is selling them in Wolfeboro, right across from Carpenter School, beside the Congo Church in Brewster Field. It would be convenient for you.

Twenty dollars buys a six foot, spruce tree at The Quonsset Hut on route 25 in Rumney, which is about two miles from the Plymouth Wal-Mart.

Besides the tree, the Quonsset Hut is worth the trip. It is loaded with hundreds of bargains, tools, hardware, housewares, a life sized bear or moose for about three hundred dollars. Somewhere in China, there's an artist who created these very life-like and detailed fiberglass black bear and moose statuettes. Probably considered lawn ornaments, they are pretty amazing.

No other store comes close to The Quonsset Hut in Rumney....it's worth the trip....even from the faraway port of Alton Bay.
