Hi:

Around the Thanksgiving table the topic changed to the Mt. Washington.
A question was asked and I wasn't sure but I said I'll ask on the forum and see if anyone has the answer.
The questions that came up was: When the lake water is lowered each year does the Mount lower enough to rest on or come close to the bottom of the lake? and if the Mount was able to move, would she have enough clearance to pass through one mile narrows?
I hope someone will have the answers, so I can pass them on.

Thanks,
CEP

When the lake is "lowered", it is lowered about a twenty inches from the normal spring high. This is hardly enough to set the Mount aground or pass under any bridge. With the exception of the 2001-2002 dry spell, the lake is never more than a foot lower than it is right now.
