Just finished reading a great article about Ho Jo's at the Weirs, been there many times as a kid in the late fifties & sixties and thru the seventies. Reading this article brought back many pleasant memories of the Weirs growing up. I live in Alton now and still visit the Weirs occassionaly but it just does not "do it" for me like it use too.
Here is a link to the article in the Weirs Times, enjoy!

An interesting historical article (http://www.highwayhost.org/NewHamphire/Restaurants/Laconia/Laconia1.html) about the Howard Johnson's in Weirs Beach can be found on the website Americas Landmark: Under the Orange Roof. This website also features a complete listing of HoJos in NH (http://www.highwayhost.org/Stategateways/newhampshire.html), as well as the across the rest of the USA. Required reading for Howard Johnson's fans!

Read with interest your memories of Howard Johnsons at the Weirs.I was never a huge fan but as luck would have it I had a friend with me who was new to the area.We were taking a sea plane ride the day it burned down. We got some great shots of the fire! I will try to find them and post them. Don't get me wrong, fire is a terrible thing, But the photography is excellent.
