Early Trail Work Accomplishments

DOT Reroute
216621672170
Reroute at DOT Garage on RT 25 (TO RED HILL TRAIL)
We have had to make a major reroute at the DOT Garage on RT25. The DOT is reactivating the facility and will be fencing it in. We have been give permission to move the Trail to the back side of the utility shed nearest RT25. If you go by this area you will see the work that had to be done to build a retaining wall to create the Trial. We were fortunate to have the cement blocks donated to us by Colman Concrete and thankful to Randy Bickford of East Coast Foundations for hauling them in for us plus a big thanks to Don Lemien for setting the Blocks and Rod MacDonald for being the “Head Honcho” on the project. There has been a cooperative effort in this project by many, the Department of Transportation, the Bureau of Trails and our Trail Master have worked together to make this happen.

Entrance to Red Hill Trail
21682169
The approach to the Head of the Red Hill Trail on Rt. 25 has been upgraded. The Trail Head has been elevated to the level of route 25. No longer will you be down in a gully as you cross RT. 25. Improvements were made as to being able to better secure the entrance in the off season.

Ayres Trail
217121722173
The Ayres Trail on RT. 109 has had a major make over. What was once a narrow one Sled trail, that could not be groomed, has now been cleaned up to accommodate our Grooming equipment. This coupled with work done last year on the other side of RT.109 gives you a nice ride right from the Lake to Buds Bridge and on to the Castle.

I hope to add pictures of the work we will be doing on the Meredith Trail soon. There has been a lot of preliminary work already completed, Reroute around the Center Harbor septic lagoons and brushing back parts of the trial. We have some wet areas that are holding up get the excavation work started.

There is still a significant amount of work that needs to be done through out our trail System.

Anyone wanting to help only needs to show up at the Club Garage on Saturdays at 8:30 am. Dress appropriately for the conditions and bring a pair of work gloves. Check the website for up-to-date information www.moultonborosmc.org
We also have a Trail Work group that works on various projects during the week. If it is easier for you to help on a week day please call Leo Lemoine for a time and place to meet 603-253-4332.

What you see here is the work of only a HANDFUL of MEMBERS. If we could only get more SUPPORT for other MEMBERS there is significantly more things that could be done. We have been offered an area to place some new Trails that would connect to the Krainwood area but at this time we fell it will have to wait for some time because of the lack of Volunteers to take on a project of this size.

Three (3) cheers to the Moultonboro SMC as they have one heck of a bunch of guys who appear to work their butts off to make it great for all those that use their trails. I myself do not use their trails but the ones that do are really furtunate for all the work the club and it's memebers (and I'm sure it is just a certain few as all clubs) for producing the trails shown in the pictures.
Great work and be dam proud of them.
