Don't know the name of the station, but its on the triangle where Rt 106 and Rt 107 split in Laconia with access from either route. Gas there yesterday and today was 2.999.
Heard someone on the news the other night say that $50.00 a barrell is not unrealistic if this economy doesn't keep free-falling.

The only time the price of gas has a big drop is when I have a full tank. It does not matter what I am in, car, truck or boat, it only drops the day after I fill up! :)

Yesterday in Nashua a credit union sponsered a publicity stunt at a local gas station. $1.999 a gallon. Of course I just got done pumping the $3.39 gas across the street when I noticed it. I called a few people, they waited 45 minutes, not sure it was worth it.

Newmarket/Durham always seems to be the cheapest by far. I saw $3.02 on Route 1 in Saugus/Danvers yesterday. I got stuck paying $3.33 in Dover before heading to Boston yesterday. For some reason, Dover is always ridiculous on gas prices.
It can easily be had in mass now for 2.99

Was talking to my neighbor yesterday about oil prices. He had read that there is more and more evidence that the recent run up in gas/oil prices was caused solely by the speculators. I wonder if they got out before the price crashed?
Anyway, yes I think we are all being gouged. Most stations south of the Lakes Region are still >$3.00/gallon, but dropping quick. At one local Irving just off I-93, Sunday night was $3.16, the next morning was $3.09. Yesterday it was $3.03.

I do feel bad for those who signed contracts, pre-buying their oil earlier this year when a gallon of heating oil was going for >$4. I saw someone interviewed on WMUR wondering if the oil companies were going to help them out. Not sure why they would, as the oil companies bought the oil at the contracted price, and would lose money.
IMO, pre-buying is a big gamble. Sometimes you get lucky and lock in at a price before it goes up. Sometimes the opposite happens.

IMO, pre-buying is a big gamble. Sometimes you get lucky and lock in at a price before it goes up. Sometimes the opposite happens. Some dealers sell downside protection with their pre-buy contracts. We bought a pre-buy contract with Fred Fuller for the coming heating season, but we also bought their downside protection contract which in our case cost $85. Are we ever glad we did! Although we've paid for our heating oil in advance at the pre-buy price, our account is only charged the lower of our pre-buy contract price ($3.97 in our case) or Fuller's cash price on the day of each delivery. (I think Fuller's cash price is now down to $3.27 per gallon.) The cost savings we realize through the downside protection contract will be refunded to us next spring.

The Cumberland Farm in the Weirs was 2.229 yesterday.
Last July, I remember seeing them lower their price to 3.999 and thinking..... WOW.....gas for less than 4 dollars....and now it is 2.22.
What is going on with these prices....is it all about supply & demand...or is it some type of market manipulation for some unknown reason?
Whatever...what with the economic downturn and higher unemployment rates...probably everyone appreciates gas at 2.22.
Last I saw, Fred Fuller heating oil was advertising 2.69 for heating oil....much lower than the 4-dollar pre-buy purchase prices of July & August.
Got to wonder why heating oil and diesel fuel, which are very similar, cost more than gasoline?
Anyone know what's the prices for delivered propane to a Q-tank, which is a 90 gal tank. Not doing a pre-buy last summer was definately a good move!:):):):)

Yeah, it's time for Congress to call in the oil executives like they did earlier this year and demand an explanation on why they are manipulating and controlling oil prices like this. With oil prices going down, Big Oil's profits are going to nose dive -- Congress needs to find out why.
Don't forget -- Congress is our friend. They're soo, sooooo smart, and never grandstand, and they understand everything anyone needs to know about supply and demand -- and they would never, ever falsely accuse anyone of market manipulation.
Go Congress, Go. Keep on making those wonderful decisions, and stay above obvious political partisianship. That's what we love about you the most, dontcha know.

I'd love to know the same. From $4.05 in July to $2.16 this morning. That's about a 47% drop in the price of gas over the course of 4 months. You CAN'T tell me that demand for gasoline has dropped 47% in that time span.

Saw regular for $1.729 today -- too bad that was in Clifton, NJ, and due to the ridiculous laws here, that is for full service. We're not allowed to pump our own gas in NJ. They tell us it's too dangerous, and I asked them when did they last hear about someone getting hurt while filling their tank in the 48 states where it's legal.

We had a neighbor who is the daughter of Irving Rheingold. Roni mentioned in the story was her sister. According to our neighbor the state will have to pay a hefty sum to their family if NJ ever lifts it's ban on self serve.

Anyone else add Marvel Mystery Oil to their gasoline fill-ups? .....it's reddish in color...smells sort of peppermint....owned by Turtle Wax...believe it is a detergent and light weight lubricant...that helps disolve engine sludge that usually builds up.
Topping off a 12 gallon fill-up with two ounces of Mystery Oil.....is like a reward for my almost ten year old Ford for making it this far. An ounce of prevention...
Somewhere, I heard that Mystery Oil in the gasoline is a no-go if you use synthetic oil in the crankcase as the two do not mix well.
So, where's the most aesthetically attractive, green garden, gas station around......it's the Holderness Citgo country store. :) 1.889/gal...most everyone there looks just like a 1940's Katherine Hepburn, too.

Although I never thought I would see gas under $2.00/gl again, lets not forget what lies ahead...... With all the increased deficits the state of NH has experienced this past year due to poor economics, over spending and shortfalls in rooms & meals tax to mention a few, will only have to be made up in other areas. I am certain the politics in this whole thing will play out as quick as the gas prices have increased over the past few years.

I have no doubt that's next on the "hit list", especially now that gas prices are low and seem to be still falling.......
Gotta love the lower prices, however -- I only put $10.00 at a time in my Highlander right now and that keeps me going for about 4-5 days at a time, and that's with not worrying about conserving ( get about 21 mpg, and it's not a hybrid). Conversely, when prices are rising I fill the tank and keep it filled and conserve a lot -- I think I could fill the tank for about 35.00 right now, whereas it wasn't that long ago I put in 75.00 and almost choked on that one!

Closing the Weirs' Texaco for the season seems very unusual. It's located right at 'disfunction junction' on state route 3, the Daniel Webster Highway, and obviously sells gasoline and fast food, coffee, cigarettes, lottery tickets.....hard to imagine that it closes. Does the nearby Cumberland Farm gas station close for the season?....no...Cumby has their "18 Budweiser Lite- $10.99" sign out by the road, and is selling gas for 1.87 or something.

3 small stations have closed and a new giant one is opening. West Alton country store, Weirs Texaco, and Keytown Irving, across from Meredith Ford have all closed. Just a guess but probably the high storage tank insurance and high credit card processing fee did them out of business.
The new Mobil on the run, on route 104 at exit 23 is huge. The site preparation did something either not legal or in violation of state rules for cutting trees when that heavily wooded, hillside lot was clear-cut. Not too sure about the tree rule violation but whatever....it used to be a nice stand of large pine trees.
Nobody cares a hoot about brand names for gasoline, it's all about the price. And, the price of diesel is still above 3 dollars. Why is that when diesel is a less refined product to make than gasoline?

FLL, The diesel prices are a mystery to me as well. diesel is essentially home heating oil. It used to be that diesel was less expensive.
I can't wait to see the prices for fuel at the three 104/93 stations when that Mobil comes on line-it always amazes me how they match prices and makes me wonder if there is any collusion or if it is pure competition.

FLL, it's the Trucking Industry.........
Commercial, class 8 trucks logged 114.1 billion miles in 2003, the equivalent of making over 115,000 cross-country trips per day.
The average class 8 unit (vehicles weighing over 33,001 lbs.) travels more than 43,000 miles per year, the equivalent of driving nearly two times around the world.
In 2003, commercial trucks consumed nearly 50 billion gallons of diesel and gasoline.
http://www.bouletfreightmanagement.com/images/Letter_T.gifhe Future of the Trucking Industry - by the Year 2015
The U.S. freight transportation industry will carry 18.85 billion tons of freight, generating $1.3 trillion in revenue, representing a 71% increase over 2004 revenue of $765.3 billion.
Trucking will account for $1.1 trillion of all freight transportation revenue, 71% increase over 2004.
The trucking industry will haul over 69% of total U.S. freight tonnage.
The average number of miles driven by class 8 trucks will decline by 2.2%; however, total tonnage volumes will grow by 31.8%.

Looking at craigslist for central NH based truck driver jobs, one sees other drivers with postings looking for a driving job and little else.
