I am back at work after a week of boating on the Lake (check my vacation blog (http://www.winnipesaukee.com/forums/blog.php?b=26)) but my mind and spirit are still there. Last week didn't have perfect weather but I never saw any whitecaps like the one's out there today. The Black Cat Island Weather Station (http://www.blackcatnh.com/weather/) reports gusts of 26 mph and it shows. The Broads must be pretty wild today.

Great weather at the Lake oftens means NW winds and choppy conditions which are not ideal for small boats. People keep saying to me "too bad you're not on vacation this week" but I think I'd prefer the calm conditions we had for most of last week, even with some clouds and showers.

Seems like it is a sign of the fall approaching. I just took a peak at BEARCAM and it seems to be a blowin....

Just got back, CH to Gilford and back, counted 5 boats on the round trip, 2 to 3 foot rollers in places. Beats rain though........:D

With the extra high water out there, these big rollers are going to mean trouble for docks around the lake! Glad I added some additional boulders along the top of mine before I left yesterday morning (the water was about 4" below the top of the deck).

I'm glad we brought a lot of supplies to Rattlesnake this week, the broads started getting really choppy this morning and has had 3' to 5' (without a ruler it's hard to tell:D) swells all day. White caps everywhere, and only two boats going by all day, one looked way too small for the chop, but they looked like the were passing ok.

We did take the kids out and enjoyed the waves (yes, life jackets) for a while. They loved it and did not want to come out.

Make that three boats, one is out there in the middle right now.

I enjoy the fall rollers (except the fall part!) and prefer them to the summer boat chop. The rollers are predictable!
