Now and then we see an ice cream barge go by. Does anyone know its story? What do they have, how much, and will they come to shore to sell their goodies? Nice idea! I hope they are doing well.

Is that the pontoon boat that's painted white w/ black blotches, to look like a cow boat? Believe it belongs to the small chain of ice cream stores in Meredith, Meredith & Weirs....forgot their name.....'Sprinkles'....maybe?

I saw them out in Moultonborough Bay one evening headed towards Lee's Mills. Alas, no wallet!!

I must know about this new venture, as I need to run into them on the water to get my ice cream fix!

But I think you mean Flurries & JB Scoops, FLL.

One that used to be an ice cream boat is now a privately owned pontoon boat (still painted) belonging to a resident on Cow.

he does come up to shore and/or your dock. He sells Dove Bars, ice pops, things like that.. generally kid's treats. they cost between $2-$4 ea.

he runs out of certain things due to popularity and the fact that his suppliers don't take him seriously and haven't given him the volume he's asked for (he says)

His home base is up in Green's Basin.

He has a bad hip and seems to really struggle with such a large boat when docking, etc

A few years ago there was a cow-painted pontoon that used to frequent the West Alton sand bar, it was named the S.S. Creamer. They had homemade ice cream in a few flavors, the black rasberry was quite good. I haven't been to the sand bar in a few years so I am not sure if it still goes there, or if it is the same boat you are talking about.

The S.S. Creamer has gone into retirement and no spends its days on Cow Island transporting fun loving Cow Islanders on various sunset cruises and day trips. The boat was purchased by my neighbor who could not resist the Cow Covered paint scheme. She has been unofficially renamed "The Cow Belle." :D

In the background is the Cow Belle. Just ignore the cute kids in front.:laugh::laugh:

I'll try and snap some more as soon as I can. This one was on my computer.

Here's a shot of the Ice Cream Float. A nice addition to the lake!

If this Ice Cream float has a phone number or is still doing business...could you PM the number to me. We have a marina in Wolfeboro and would love to have him stop in or know his schedule.

Thanks! :)

Just saw this on craigslist:

http://nh.craigslist.org/boa/820057759.html

"ice cream boats easy money! - $5995 (alton bay nh)"
"ice cream boats business
two boats motors trailers freezers Complete business $13995 or one boat 5995
phone 603 520 4988 "

Someone wants out. Business must be tough to be selling out this low.

I think this is a different business, the ice cream barge I see all the time works out of Lee's Mills not Alton. I saw him yesterday doing a lot of business!
Prices are great and he is a nice guy
