Docking, Watch Out

On July 5th, my wife and I headed up P-Bay and got gas at Channel Marine (very nice staff there). My wife said hey, lets go over to the beach club across the way for a cold soda and a snack and we can listen to the band also. Well there was about a half hour wait for a dock so we floated and waited. We proceeded to pull into the spot and the dock staff said "back in please". After we backed in and secured our boat, my wife asked why did we need to back in? The dock staff person said, we are going to park someone behind you. So I said, hey my boat has an 8' 6" beam and the the boat next to us was the same size, you can't fit anything between us. My wife also said to the dock person, please don't try to put a boat behind us, our boat is new and we don't want anything to happen here. The dock person said ok, so we found a seat and ordered a water and diet soda along with a snack. After about 45 minutes, we went back to our boat and headed out. While we were almost stopped in traffic (by the bridge) my wife said, I am going up front to secure the dock line a little better. Then she says to me how did our reg numbers get all damaged on the left side, I said what, they were perfect this morning when we left our slip in Gilford. Well, looks like they tried to get a boat in behind us and did not make out so well. Not only are the custom made reg numbers messed-up but there is one deep 4" to 6" scratch that needs to be filled and repaired. I am not happy and wanted let everyone know that may stop there to be aware so your boat does not get damaged like mine did (yikes).

Call them and talk to someone in authority. They should make it right but only if they know about it. My opinion is it should have been brought to their attention immediately.

I agree with seeker. Call them ASAP. I'm sure this won't be the first time that they or any marina/gas dock has dealt with this issue. Demand to talk to the supervisor on duty. I hope this never happens to you again, but I would say next time turn around and bring it to their attention right after it happens, so docksatff can't do the natural denial etc. If your all the way accross the lake, tell them you will text a picture of it to them or they can come check it out for themselves. You may know what it will cost rioughly, but get an estimate if you can.
I've never had a problem such as this, but that being said, I don't have a new boat by any means, and it always seems to happen to the nicest boat in the marina ( I never qualify for that distiction)

I think the original poster is referring to the Naswa - they do try to jam boats in there. Good luck with your repair.
