I finally had the pleasure of checking out Bertha Mae’s Emporium (http://www.berthamaes.com/). It was surprising just how many items there are on display and how big the house is. We’ll have to stop in again because I didn’t have much time and didn’t get to see everything. This just might make for a fun rainy day exploration.

In case you didn’t know, our very own McDude has just set up a booth at Bertha Mae’s. It has many prints matted and framed from his postcard collection. He has a great eye for which mats and frames look good with which print. He did a wonderful job of putting together a few collections too. I especially liked the train stations in the tall frame. I left with a matted and framed print of my favorite, Rattlesnake Island. And if my treasure wasn’t enough happiness for one day, I ran into McD on the way out. Lucky me!

So, if you are on your way to visit the new and improved Waldo Pepper’s, you might want to stop in and poke around Bertha Mae’s on the same trip.

Best of luck in your new venture McDude!

Just the name Bertha Mae gives me a smile, back in the 1980s we used to stay there every year and I remember taking the walk every morning to the restaurant for the breakfast buffet. I think we stayed there every summer for 10 yrs or so, but, the prices of the rooms got out of hand so we have been going elsewhere ( in Weirs area) ever since. I have been to the emporium to look around and walk into the dining area just to get those good ole memories going again.
