Went to the Homestead Restaurant in Bristol a couple weeks ago and saw seafood lasagna on the menu. I had never heard of it before so decided to give it a try. It has an Alfredo sauce rather than a tomato based sauce, as with most lasagna. It was out of this world and took home enough for two more meals. Definitely something I wouldn't mind having again, and again and again. If you like seafood, you will definitely enjoy this dish. The staff was friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend the place.

See WEBPAGE and MENU (http://www.homesteadnh.com/BRISTOL.HTM)here. They also have a place in Londonderry and I think they are somehow associated with Fratello's in Laconia.

The Homestead and Fratello's restaurants are owned by the same family.
There are four brothers, and I think each manage a different site.

My wife and I went to The Homestead last night and a very delicious meal. I had the fried Scallops and my Wife had Mediterranean Salmon. We stared with a bowl of French Onion Soup, one of the Best in the area. We then had a very crispy Garden Salad, the Peppercorn Parmigiana dressing very tasty. My scallops were very good and the portion was more than I could finish. Oh, the one thing for me when eating Sea Food you must have a sweet TATAR Sauce. I hate the Vinegary ones.
My wife Salmon was Great, she had a "STUFFED" baked potato that was excellent.
There was a slight downside to the evening, we were seated in the Big room the the Sliding Glass Doors. It was very noisy and dark to the point you could not read the menu. A quick word to the hostess and we were moved the front room, it's off to the left as you come in, windows on 2 sides and only 2 other couples dining there.
Would we go again, Defiantly!
Is that associated with the one in North Conway?
Was it OUTSTANDING, Chickie?????? :laugh::laugh:

It does not appear to be:
The 1790 Homestead Restaurant (http://www.homesteadrestaurant.com/)
The Homestead Restaurant and Tavern (http://www.homesteadnh.com/?no_redirect=true)

The north Conway Homestead has been closed for maybe over a year.
Oh, is it closed? I didn't know that. Years ago we went there quite a lot and it was very very nice.

I went to their website and it appears to be a nice place but as I delved further into the site I saw things that made me suspect.
One reviewer asked if their lobster was fresh or frozen. No answer
They describe a complete meal for $31.95 and featured
warm rolls and sweetbread.
Sweetbread:
Sweetbreads or ris are culinary names for the thymus or the pancreas especially of the calf and lamb.
Mmm mmm good. Love my buttered rolls and pancreas.
We've been to The Coach Stop in Londonderry several times (5 or 6 I'd say), and enjoy it very much. I wouldn't say it's worth a long drive or is anything super-special, but we find it to be very good overall.
And the sweetbread comes in the basket with the rolls. It's slices of something similar to a pumpkin bread or a date nut bread. Good, but the rolls are GREAT.

Thanks MJM for your input about the Coach Stop, but I was being facetious about the sweetbreads. I know they meant sweet breads.
TPG, what was it specifically that bothered you about the CS? I know you said one and done, so it must have been a complete disaster?

We do not live too far from the Coach Stop and it has always been a great place to have special dinner or sit at the bar with an app and drink and listen to the live music on Friday or Saturday night. They have totally remodeled the 2nd floor bar area to include a covered outside deck and opened the whole floor so you can see the entertainemnt from any seat. The food is very good and a similar fare to the Homestead. We enjoy it very much.

I don't really remember what we had, but I do remember that my wife said what she got wasn't at all good. There was a wedding or some large party in the upstairs dining room, we were relegated the the downstairs "porch" facing Route 102 and it seemed like we were put on "ignore" by the waitstaff. Food was dropped off, and then at least 30 minutes before our waitperson came by again. The couple across from us got up and left, I assume they paid their tab on their way out. We were actually standing and getting ready to do the same thing when she suddenly appeared and asked if we wanted dessert. "No thank you, just the check, we'll follow you to the register". I commented on their website regarding our experience and didn't get the courtesy of a reply.

I guess they figured they got their guaranteed 18% from the large party and the hell with 4 diners.
