Hi I have a friend that used to own a home on Bear Island a long time ago and he wanted to go visit this summer. Are there any public docks or anywhere you could tie up to on Bear, I was told something about the inside of the Bear Island mail dock was a place you used to be able to tie up to. Is this true now, need some info?
Thank you

There is a public dock on Bear Island. Public means that yes you are allowed to use it. What the time limit is or how many spaces are available is something someone else will have to answer. Some on this forum are from the island so hopefully they will chime in for you.

Between 11am and noon is when the Mail Boat stops at the mail dock. Spaces are very limited at that time, and be sure not to block the outer dock because that is for the Sophie C.

All of the trails are private property, but I doubt anybody will mind an ex-islander and friend taking a walk around the trails.

Dogs are a "hot topic" on the island. One of the few topics where islanders do not see eye to eye. You are better off not bringing one, but if you do make sure its on a leash. It's the law.

Really quick,
How many docks are there? Does the mail boat use the same dock as the Sophie C?(or isn't the mail boat the one in the same)
Just Clarify there are more than one dock over there y\right, I do nto want to block any boat that needs to be there

Thank you

Well I wanted to let everyone know that we did find the house my friend had not been to in over thirty years was able to pick it out although it changed drasticly and the people that own it are the same that bought it from his grandmother back in the 70's. I will not give out there names. They were great we were on the boat looking for it, they were sitting on their deck and we asked if they knew his grandparents and it turns out that was indeed the house and they let us dock and invited us up for a drink and a walk through of the house it was great! We made friends on the island, it was a day I will not forget as also my boat broke down on the Journey home about 1000 feet from my dock, to the tune of $1,400 and made me a land lover for the weekend, this was just after I stopped to see if someone needed help on the water. Where was the Karma EARL?:(

By the way I do not have a dog, nor did I bring one with me, but If I do I will make sure it is on the lesh:emb::D:laugh::emb:
