Spring has definitely begun on the big lake, even if it is only in the 40s. The MOUNT cruised southeast along the northern side of Bear Island today, made a left turn, and returned toward Center Harbor along the route that passes Black Cat. Here is one shot from the WeatherCam.
She appears in several other shots also. If you visit 'previous images' and start the time lapse during the next 2 hours, you'll see the whole sequence.

Interesting. Here I assumed that tomorrow's "shakedown cruise" was to be the first time out but the "real" shakedown" was today. In thinking about it, they are smart to make sure all is well prior to heading out tomorrow with all of those invited guests.
When we came back across from Welch this morning it was 42 degrees and light rain but the lake had a pleasant calm about it. :coolsm:

The "official" shakedown cruise left Center Harbor a little after 10:00 am today with over 300 guests including the Governor (he got off at the Wiers stop).
When asked about the Mount being sighted on the lake yesterday, Captain Jim Morash admitted to a short check all systems float trip yesterday.

I had heard that before, that the ship's first actual cruise is quick run with crew only just to make sure everything works. Makes sense.
Here's a shot from the WeatherCam of today's cruise.

Here's a closeup of yesterday's cruise (and 2 forum regulars).Actually there are 3 forum members(including me) in that shot plus Lt. Dunleavy of the Marine Patrol.
It was a spectacular day aboard the shakedown cruise. The lake was calm and the skies were blue. Everyone at work today is commenting on the tan I got from being on the upper deck so long.
I also took some pictures and video. I'll try to post some today.

Okay, here is my guess.
The youngish (note I said youngish) one the right is Mike from Black Cat.
One is our creator and moderator whose name I admit I do not know.
The third is a mystery to me.
Not bad for a gal from Jersey, huh?

Glad to be of {some} help! ;)
With regard to the quilt - I had to come out from under it as a result of age-related internal combustion! So it has been temporarily reassigned to the back of the couch. ;)
NJ2NH - not bad for a Jersey Girl indeed.

Last night I posted a video of the cruise (including some interesting talk from the Captains).
Either you've all found it and watched it already, or the 284 page views in the first 12 hours show that the MOUNT has a broader appeal than I thought. I posted it, and immediately went to bed without promoting it. 284 views in 12 hours without telling anyone it's there means people are searching for videos of the MOUNT!

Actually there are 3 forum members(including me) in that shot plus Lt. Dunleavy of the Marine Patrol.
Nice pictures - at least 2 of the forum regulars have their names with their pictures in the Forum Fest photopost area. McDude already posted a picture of the guy at the wheel (did you have your Boater Safety Certificate with you WBB  and did the Lt. check to be sure it was NASBLA approved and recognized in NH and etc...)?.
The real question is: Did you guys talk to Lt. Dunleavy about (dare I use the phrase) Speed Limits? Admitting that all of you were together could prompt some pro 45/25 mph speed limit people to claim that there was lobbying. Maybe some attempt at influencing survey results, reports or who knows what nefarious activity could be alleged here?
Note: I did NOT point a finger at any of the Islanders or a Kayaker, did I. :)
Please note: The above post is supposed to be humorous and in no way represents my feeling or opinion about the activities surrounding the Lt., the Mount's first cruise and our forum folks - I hope it made some of you laugh or at least smile (I tried). Plus, if I recall correctly, WBB is in favor .
addendum - 5-9-08: Oops, My bad - very bad. Weirs Beach Boater (WBB) tells me that he is OPPOSED to HB847. I apologize if my mistake in any way effected WBB's reputation. WBB is NOT in favor of that preposterous 45/25 mph speed limit bill.
So much for my latest attempt at humor. Still great pictures and video - and that's no joke.

I love the pictures of the Mount. I have wonderful memories of riding on it when I was younger. I don't get up to Wolfeboro very often but this is a licky year and I hope to take my grandsons on it this summer. Does anyone know where I can get a tile 6" by 6" with a picture of the Mount on it. If so please direct me where I can get it. Thanks a bunch. By the way it is supposed to get to 92 tomorrow down here.
