View Full Version : Time for the BIG posters to pony up!
One of the things our gracious host never does is ask us to make a donation to this fantastic website.
Every once in awhile, when the situation dictates, I usually remind everyone of the mechanism available to make a small donation to Don's creation. I think this is one of those times.
Usually it gets pretty quiet this time of year, with the hottest topic being the beginnings of the ice-out contest. This year, however, the site has been flooded throughout the off-season with a steady stream of activity related to the speed limit issue. And the issue has found its way spilled across virtually all threads, even though Don has a specific forum for that venue.
Don has also been very understanding in allowing a very broad interpretation of posting guidelines to let everyone say there fair share....some using that share much more liberally than others. So I am sure Don has been much busier this off-season keeping a close moderator's eye focused on maintaining this family friendly web site.
All that said and if you are still with me, we can all thank Don for his hospitality by making a small donation to the continuing maintenance of Winnipeasukee.com . To that end I hereby once again post the appropriate LINK (http://www.winnipesaukee.com/howtohelp.html) that allows you the freedom to make a donation of your choosing.
In closing Don has no idea that I once again am reminding the reader of this service. I think everyone is feeling the economic pinch we find ourselves in, and it is right after the holidays. If the time is not right for you, just tuck the LINK (http://www.winnipesaukee.com/howtohelp.html) away for a rainy day when you have a few extra bucks kicking around. But for you handful of prolific pontificators, it is time to dig deep in to those dusty wallets and purses and cough up a few coins for the cause!
Thanks everyone..... :)

Maybe now that Island Girl has nearly reached her goal for the new Snake Eyes cam, we could make future donations go toward the Winni website. I just bought items this week from JC Penney and QVC, and a percentage of my purchase went to the Snake Eyes fund. We should keep it up for this site.

Sorry, but all visa, mastercard & discover have all shut me down.....too bad.....I'd be happy to contribute but I'm busted....see you later, alligator! However, will be very happy to roof-rake the snow off the eaves for an old can of tomato soup or a stale end piece of bread!
How 'bout I load up the old wheelbarrow and deliver a free load of genuine waterfront snow?:D
Any wealthy widows out there interested in learn'n ice fish'n on the Big Lake?

The link is not working for me.
What do you mean by BIG posters?
Should be fixed now, just scroll down to the "donations" tab, or purchase items from some of the listed merchants! :)

Don has kept the number of ads very low. There is plenty of money to be made by selling more ads. Do you think that's part of the answer? I have no idea of the economics of running this site, but I suspect Don isn't getting paid enough, and could always use more servers.

These links are not working, you may want to check them out.
I donate through PayPal as well.

Good points, but I have no idea what the economics are of running the site. I have had no conversation with our humble host about this thread....matter of fact I have only had the privilege to meet and speak with him once briefly at last year's 'Fest.
I only wanted to remind the readers that there are several mechanisms to help fund this website, either directly by a paypal donation or indirectly by supporting the merchants who advertise here.
Yikes, I better remember to do something myself! :D

Hey WeirsGuy...wait a minute...a 'widow' is a women, as opposed to a widower which is a male, and I was referring to a wealthy & well endowed widow which by definition is of the female only variety.....so's excuzzzzzzzzzzzze you!:D

Skip,
Thanks so much for the reminder.
I just made a PayPal donation.
When you think about it, for those that can gave $1 per week in a yearly installment, I am sure that would be a very welcomed donation. For those that have more disposable and use the forum a lot, perhaps more would be something to consider.
Thinking about it, a few hundred dollars is a small fraction of the cost of, as an example, a trip to nowhere through space. This is just an example for those that can afford such luxuries. Personally, I get enough enjoyment from the lake and this site that I have no desire to leave the planet, no matter how short the trip. :D
Winni.com is A-OK with me!

I've been burnin up the bandwidth lately so I was guilted into making my contribution. ;)
It's money well spent. Plus it made me visit the store and start browsing what I may be buying in the not so distant future.

I meant you could let Don borrow the hot tub since all your visa, mastercard & discover cards are shut down! Maybe after you get the widow in there though... :D

I've been thinking hard on this. Ever since the Meredith property tax ate up my bank account, all the discover-visa-mastercard done closed me off...but where there's a will...there's a way...
Let me return my 20 dollar, Sunbeam two-burner, deluxe hotplate back to Walmart for cash and then I can mail you a 17 dollar donation as bank checks cost 3bucks & that's cheap at Wallyworld.
What's the mailing address?
What can I say, but that's life in the poor lane.

Don has done an absolutely fantastic job keeping this website running.
When I became interested in the lakes region I turned to this website for the best and most candid information. It helped me decide that the lakes region is truly a special place.
I am webmaster for another area website and private forum so I know the amount of work it takes to keep it running. Much of my inspiration came from this website.
The software he uses is not free. I'm certain there is a periodic maintenance fee for software use in addition to the server cost.
Helping to defray these costs without excessive advertising will ensure this site remains lively and interesting.

With all your ample free time to pontificate, may I suggest you visit Amazon.com and peruse their book list. Just follow the links I have provided and rest assured a portion of your purchase will help fund this website.
To help jumpstart your summer reading list, may I suggest you place this BOOK (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0061540463/ref=amb_link_6352942_1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=asin-coop-gp-1-A&pf_rd_r=0422PV85GBY5QC2WG42Z&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=364480601&pf_rd_i=283155) high up on your purchase list?
Thanks.....:)

Wow! I have to thank everyone for your contributions and a special Thank You for the very generous contribution that one member made this morning. Also, I have to thank my Uncle Skip for starting this little fundraiser. OK, he's not really my Uncle but all of Skip's valuable contributions to this forum over the years are sincerely appreciated.
Although it is a lot of work to keep the site running and moderate the various features, it is really all of you that deserve the credit. As I've said before: I just provide the blank paper, all of you fill it up with the information, opinions and photos that make the site so popular with people who love the Lake.
Thanks again everyone!

My contribution went thru this afternoon, all the way from Joisey. It's just so great to be able to feel close to the lake all year despite being 300+ miles away.

Is there an address we can just send a check to? I've got my cc info stolen twice online in the past year so don't do anything with cc online anymore.

And just like I told Island Girl for Snake eyes the check is in the mail.
Thanks Don
