Anyone have experience with these units. I have found one company called Toyotomi that has a unit. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

We had a water heater off a gas fired unit in Mass for ten+ years and now we have a water heater off an oil fired unit at the Weirs for the last three years. Never had any problem, zero maintenance cost and endless supply of hot water.
I am not aware of anyone that has had a problem with these units.

Calling a Toyotomi oil or a Rinnai propane a "tankless" is a bit of a bad rap, because the old tankless heaters were basically thankless, when it came to keeping hot water hot. Reminds me of those old, red Everhot tankless units that got called Neverhot. Anyway, the Toyotomi and Rinnai "hot water on the spot' heaters are very well made and make the water....hot....and fast!

My tankless oil fired furnace could not keep the water hot enough, nor was there ever enough hot water for the 3 of us. I had a 30 gallon SuperStore installed, and have been very happy with its performance.

While I manage to find my Rinnai propane heaters in the classified ads, or in garage sales, and do my own installation, not everyone belongs to the growing number of 'waterfront poor', or is highly skilled with a five dollar flaring tool, like myself.
I have a question. Having noticed that the American dollar has lost a lot of its' value verses the Japanese yen, Canadian dollar, European euro, British pound and others, what has this done to the prices of Japanese appliances like Toyotomi and Rinnai and like by how much?

I had a System 2000 oil fired hot water heating unit installed in my home in 1989, when I converted from electric heat to baseboard hot water heat. The original 80 gallon electric water heater could not keep up with our demands for hot water.
The System 2000 had a tiny heat exchanger, about 6X8 inches, mounted above the boiler. That was piped to a storage tank not any bigger than the original 80 gallon electric unit. The salesman said we would never run out of hot water. I was skeptical, so after the installation, I opened every hot water tap in the house and let them run. I shut them off after almost an hour of running. I was convinced. The water out of the faucets was still steaming hot. Made a believer out of me. Any boiler that uses a heat exchanger tied in to a storage tank should offer similar performance.

Ditto what nightwing wrote.I have a pretty basic Beckett/Burnham 100,000 btu oil fired fhw boiler with a small heat exchang coil in the boiler like nightwing.I never run out of hot water and I don't have a storage tank at all. It's almost 100% on-demand hot water so I don't lose all that energy storing hot water in a tank.I had to change the coil after 8 years.Very simple and I did it myself.

mine is propane fired rinnai but works similar to the oil/kero Toyo and have to say it's great, w've had 6 people in a row shower with no loss of hot water and no tanked system can do that.

You can go to most any oil company in your area more preferably one that is recommended to you and/or gas company and they will fill you in on a burner that they sell and install. Most all the burners both oil/gas are pretty much the same. If you get it from a local you will get better service. :)
