I was going through old forum posts on air boats and found this thread (http://www.winnipesaukee.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3079). Has anyone started an off season water / ice taxi for the island dwellers? We closed our Rattlesnake house as late as we could and have been missing it ever since. We would love to go up for a weekend or some time between the holidays, but without an air boat or hovercraft, we will just sit, wait and dream of ice in and snowmobiles.

And they could also go fix Snake eyes in their travels, just a thought.

George, I spoke with Steve at Island Support yesterday. He just purchased a 19' enclosed Great Lakes airboat and will be doing a lot of work on Rattlesnake this winter so he could work something out with you if you want to get out there from time to time. He was launching it for the first time today.

Give him a call and tell him Jason sent you.

The jack-plate is a functional addition... (http://greatlakesairboats.com/Iceboats.aspx)

That is pretty slick indeed. I noticed that after running on bare ice the polymer bottom does heat up and the boat will adhere itself to the ice when parked. Since mine had a slightly curved bottom the entire bottom did not freeze so I could break it free simply by hitting the gas.

I am a bit concerned however that they do not equip their boats with an ice brake.

Yes, there was a strand that featured that boat last winter. Then I saw that it was for sale (I think on the Winni Classifieds). A very slick rig. I wonder where it is now?

It was mine, it is back in Canada. We decided to put our property on the market so the airboat was not needed.
