On Wednesday, Oct 17 and Thursday October 18th I had the privelege of taking a sunset cruise (5Pm) in our boat on Lake Winnipesaukee. The colors are spectacular and the lake was as smooth as glass, both nights. We saw one other boat at a distance last night, far away, and one tonight (my son who was worried about running out of gas) but otherwise the lake was ours.
This peace and tranquility is what makes living here so wonderful. Such a contrast to the busyness of the Fourth of July weekend. I have lived on three continents and this is absolutely the best place in the world to live in my opinion. I hope that all of you can enjoy this special time of year and appreciate it too.

We made it out Tuesday night just before sundown - was extremely peaceful but coooooold once out of the sun...hope to get one last run in this weekend! I agree - Winnipesaukee in the Fall is God's Country.

I've actually been out on the Lake in November -- there's the occasional day it's warm enough to do so, and if it's a bit on the cool side, well, that's what sweatshirts and canvases were made for! Best November cruise ever? Thanksgiving with my parents, in the cruiser, years ago -- cruising the Lake and smelling the turkey cooking in the oven in the galley -- ummm, ummm, good!

I find my passengers have a much better time when they have one of these 12V fleece electric blankets. I usually plug it in while it's still in the bag. By the time they start thinking it is a bit to cold, it is like a nice warm towel out of the drier. Anything to get a bit more time on the lake.

RS, where did you get the 12V electric blanket. I've searched and didn't find anything. Wife is going to love this for XMAS.
Thanks in advance.

If you want a bit more warmth, look for Gerbing's heated gear. See: http://www.gerbing.com/
I use one of their 12 volt jackets for motorcycling and it's awesome. Motomarket in Acton MA sells the stuff locally.
