WMUR had video on the 6pm. They were working on an antique car in the garage with a flammable liquid. Light bulb broke and ignited it. The garage and the car looked completely leveled, and there were several large holes burned through the roof of the house, and what looked like another burned car in the driveway. Doesn't sound like anyone got hurt though. Very lucky, given the pictures of the garage.

That explains the black smoke—like you'll see from automobile fires alongside the highway.

I was sailing to Rattlesnake Island and saw the smoke rising in the distance. The solid plume reached upwards to about 500 feet, then flattened out—stretching in a straight line clear to Cow Island, southeast of the blaze.

"Cooking", indeed. Gotta check my fire extinguisher gauges!

One lesson from this story is; use sparkless light bulbs when working around flamable liquids or vapors in the shop. They can be purchased at NAPA. I'm glad no one got hurt and feel sad that they lost alot of material items.

The black smoke really stood out against the clear sky.
