looking for a good dentist

Do any of you folks know of a good dentist in the Lakes Region ? One that does not have a 2 year waiting list would be good, lol:) This is a very difficult area to get dental service in.

Dr Bartlett of Winnisquam Dental (528-1212) is the best I have ever been treated by. He is absolutely painless and has a crown making machine in his office so you can get a crown made in one visit. He's busy and that's because he's good.

I highly recommend Morton Levin, DDS in Gilford. He did my braces (adult orthodontics) and had very reasonable rates. Great hours, professional staff and the cleanest office you'll ever hope to see!

(And great crowns - he did 2 of hubby's.)

Dr Paul Brand and his wife, Dr Katherine Sewicky on the Tenney Mt Hgwy, in Plymouth, about one mile from the Super Wal-Mart is a truly excellent dentist, and about 1/3 cheaper than Boston dentists.,

Probably, you never heard of them, because they do very little advertising.......because they do not need to.

Got a infected incisor needing a root canal because you were too cheap to get it fixed when it was just a cavity and now the infection is moving north towards your nose? Paul is the guy to see before it becomes oral surgeon-apico apendectomy time!

I checked out Dr Boles and he wanted $400 for a new patient exam !!! Needless to say I did not agree with this price and moved on. I'm still looking, but in the meantime I have used a Boston area dentist on weekends.

As I understand it, many NH municipalities including my town of Meredith provide real good dental insurance w/ no deductible for their town employees.

Let's see......I pay about $8500/year in Meredith prop tax and cannot afford dental insurance for myself but a small part of my large prop tax pays for their dental insurance.....something very wrong with this picture.

To any Meredith town employee reading this post....next itime you visit the dentist and are sitting there in the dental chair getting prepped.......please think to yourself......thankyou Mr fatlazyless for helping to pay my dental insurance.

Wow.....didn't know that,FLL.Guess I'm in the wrong business.My wife and I pay $1,200 per month for Anthem/Blue and have no dental insurance (we researched it and found it to be a bad deal)
I'd be smart to sell my business,work for the town for a few years and then retire.....or there's always the old "bad back" ticket to an early dole.

:D With prop taxes going from 2800 to 8500 in three & one half years, it is necessary to go without items like food, heat, electricity, & dental insurance. Fortunately, I have a wood-fired hot tub, so I live in the tub all winter and heat it by scrounging construction debris and like to visit the dumpster behind the Inn at Church Point....high standards....here!

Bah....who needs dental insurance....give me left-over Stoly vodka mouthwash.....everyday and twice on Saturdays! :)

With a new practice opening up there shouldn't be much of a problem with taking new patients.

New dentist in town?

The board sat down for another conceptual consultation with Dr. Chris Kempton, a dentist proposing to open a new practice in a two-story house on Main Street.

The house, Kempton said, is located on a half acre of land, has access to municipal water and offers parking for up to three vehicles.

For now, Kempton plans to start at two days a week and gauge the local demand for his services before he decides whether or not to set up shop permanently.

Hello Second Curve, no I do not think either the state or the town employees are abusing our system.....I never said that....and do not think that. The government employees of NH seem to be hard-working and happy with their jobs and have pretty good attitudes. The police around here are all very professional and you will not get stopped for a driving violation if you do not deserve one.

My problem is that the property tax is carrying too much of a burden and for the town, school, state school and county it is the only source of revenue. This problem is effecting more NH residents as they see their prop tax rise and people in places like Orford, Hopkinton, & Brentwood who previously had relatively low prop taxes now have a 'view tax.

As long as the big prop tax bills were addressed to the waterfront, it was ok, but now it is spreading to places like Bow, Pennecook, & Concord.

Up till now, proposing an income tax was like a 13000 volt third rail, down in the subway. No NH politician ever wanted to go near it....

FLL...why do you always suggest an income tax?.....That only effects people who WORK.If I had my choice,it would be a sales tax,since it is more evenly shared.Don't get me wrong....I'm not for any new taxes,just those that are fair to everyone.

Alaska has a population of about 600k while NH has a poplation of about 1.1 mil. Alaska and NH are the only two states which have BOTH no income tax-no sales tax. However Alaska gets a lot of revenue from oil companies like Exxon, BP & Chevron. Enough so every adult Alaskan gets an annual Alaskan oil dividend of about $5000. Every time anyone buys a gal of gasoline, a small part of the price goes to every Alaskan resident.

Anyway, Alaskan towns have the option of collecting a local sales tax, and 79 different Alaskan towns charge from 1-7% in sales tax for local town expenses like maybe no-deductible dental insurance for all their town employees ( like Meredith).

NH towns have no problem spending money, and a local sales tax would take some of the burden off their poor, overtaxed property owners, like me.
