Anyone know anything about the scale-model replica of the Mount? We were coming out of Alton Bay yesterday afternoon when we heard what we thought was the distincive horn of the real Mount. Didn't see her, but we were just coming by the bandstand...thought she may have been further out. We were quite surprised to see this vessel, maybe 50 - 75 feet long I'd guess, that looks like the Mount after being tossed in the dryer on high heat....The detail was amazing. A slip neighbor said he heard it was the project of a retired guy in Wolfeboro. Anyone have any info?

The mini-Mount is one of the lake's little (pardon the pun) treasures.
It gets discussed here from time to time. If you do a "search" you'll find lots of information on this vessel. Also, there are many pictures in the photo forum.
Good luck!

1/5 scale replica. Fairly precise. It was a 10yr project by a gentleman in Wolfeboro, and several of his friends.

Sometimes when the conditions are right it can be tough to tell the difference until it passes on the near side of an island or boat and you realize it is the mini me version. Absolute treasure of the lake. I look every time I go to WB. Get a close look sometime to see the scale passengers.

I learned today that the lake house (and presumably the boat) are rumored for sale in Wolfeboro.
EDITED: THe house next door is for sale (correction).
The above link returned me to a search screen, so here are a couple of other threads from 2006 and 2004:

I happened to be sailing my smallest sailboat yesterday, and the Mini-Mount came within hailing distance. I gave two blasts on my whistle, and the skipper gave a big wave in return. (Though I expected a toot in return :( )
Two hundred feet further along, a different boat gave two toots, and the Mini-Mount gave a huge blast—just like the real Mount! Now I'm counting my lucky stars for "just" a big wave.
