After staying on Winnipesaukee for 20 years and seeing many changes, we decided to give Lake Winnisquam a shot. Last year we saw canoes, kayaks, pontoon boats and an occasional jet-ski. It seemed more peaceful and a lot safer to cruise on. This year the lake was more crowded with bigger boats(the size Winnipesaukee USE to have), cabin cruisers, more jet-ski's, and airplanes (not sea planes) scimming the open water. Oh and did I mention quite a few not respecting no wake zones. Could it be people are moving over to Winnisquam?? What is going on? Any way guess I just had to say the disrespect for water safety seems to now be moving to the other lakes in the area not just on Winnipesaukee. Where are hearts will always remain.
One of the things we miss is Waldo Peppers lobster roll mmm. The Lobster Connection on Winnisquam has great seafood but the guy is really rude...down right mean sometimes and his prices are crazy.

I can't speak for the boating issues on Winnisquam since I boat on Winnipesaukee but .... I can speak for The Lobster Connection. I had a lobster roll for the first and likely last time last weekend. I got a lobster "roll" on a bulky hamburger style bun! The lobster meat was sparse but the bed of lettuce wasn't.

If I were in your shoes and since you wrote a yummy sound (mmm) indicating that you like or love Waldo Pepper's lobster rolls, I'd drive to Waldo Peppers which isn't that far away in both time and miles. I'm hooked on their lobster rolls and to get a big bear hug from that cute, red head gal Pepper makes the trip all worthwhile. :D

Lacey,

What you just described....canoes, kayaks, peacefulness, still exists on Winnisquam. The madness usually doesn't kick on until the 1st or 2nd week of August when alot of people seem to be taking their vacations, and even then it's just the weekends. The 4th of July week and most weekends leading up to August were very relaxing and almost boring with a lack of boat traffic.

But you can expect it to get busier next year when the public boat ramp opens back up. I think that has been a major factor in the lack of boat traffic in the past couple of years, maybe its the gas prices, but I think it's access. Time will tell.

Well Lacey,

If I were you I'd be sure to visit Waldo Peppers the next time you are in the area. This time when you leave the lake region to go back to Framingham you can leave with a smile and a full tummy.

I hope you aren't allergic to shellfish, cuz that Lobster Roll you are going to be enjoying at Waldo Peppers will be loaded !!!!!!!

Enjoy the rest of your summer.
